On 29th December 2025, the President of the Republic of Lebanon, General Joseph Aoun, received Eng. Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, during his official visit to Lebanon.

During the meeting at Baabda Palace, the Lebanese President praised Egypt's support to the Lebanese people. He conveyed his greetings to H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. In this context, President Aoun appreciated Egypt's consistent response to Lebanon's needs, asserting that the signing of the MoU between Lebanon and Egypt to meet Lebanon's natural gas requirements for electricity generation represents a practical and fundamental step that will enable Lebanon to increase electricity production for Lebanese citizens.

For his part, the Minister conveyed the greetings of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to H.E. President Joseph Aoun, asserting on Egypt's interest in strengthening bilateral relations and bolstering Lebanon's efforts, and wishing its people continued progress, stability, and prosperity.

During their discussion on cooperating in the natural gas domain, the Minister emphasized that energy and gas are currently top priorities in bilateral cooperation, in the coming period, in light of the mutual robust relations, contributing to meeting Lebanon's electricity generation needs.

The Minister added that Egypt will provide full support to Lebanon's gas sector by transferring Egyptian expertise and capabilities across several domains, including upstream and downstream domains. He also highlighted the formation of joint teams between the petroleum and energy ministries of both countries to coordinate and facilitate the transfer of Egyptian expertise in this sector.
