Within the framework of implementing the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources' strategy to increase domestic natural gas production, leverage the existing infrastructure, and reduce reliance on imports, the petroleum sector, in cooperation with BP, is preparing to bring the Mediterranean "Fayoum North-4" well on stream in the near future, with an estimated production rate of approximately 80 MMcf/d of natural gas.
This comes following the successful execution of a new well sidetrack as part of BP's drilling program to increase gas production in Egypt. This allowed for bringing the well back into production from new layers without the need to drill an independent well, representing a model for applying innovative engineering solutions that contribute to adding new production in record time and at the lowest possible cost, while maximizing the utilization of existing wells and production facilities.
Furthermore, the teams successfully overcame the technical challenges associated with reactivating the well, completing all operations in accordance with the highest standards of safety and efficiency. They reached the target layers at depths exceeding 3,000 meters, paving the way for the start of production and the addition of new natural gas volumes that support meeting local market needs, while reinforcing Egypt's efforts to reduce the import bill and enhance energy security.
