Eng. Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, held a meeting with Eng. Abdulla Ateya Al Messabi, CEO of ADNOC Drilling, to discuss opportunities for establishing strategic partnerships between the company and Egypt's petroleum sector and for participating in the implementation of an expanded onshore and offshore well-drilling program. The program would support plans to increase upstream activities over the upcoming years.
The Minister emphasized that increasing drilling activities is one of the key pillars of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources' plan for the upcoming five years, within the framework of an integrated strategy aimed at maximizing domestic production of crude oil and natural gas through intensifying exploration activities, accelerating the development of discoveries, increasing drilling rates, and utilizing the latest technologies and technical solutions.
The Minister pointed out that Egypt's petroleum sector has promising opportunities and an ambitious drilling and development program, paving the way to establish new partnerships with international and Arab companies specialized in drilling services, particularly those with advanced technological capabilities and extensive experience in implementing large-scale drilling programs.
The Minister praised ADNOC Drilling's technical and technological capabilities and advanced expertise in well drilling operations, as well as the company's progress in leveraging technology and innovation to enhance the efficiency of drilling and production operations. He emphasized the significance of benefiting from these capabilities and expertise in supporting the plans of Egypt's petroleum sector.
He also commended the extensive expertise and capabilities of ADNOC Group, led by Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, across various areas of the petroleum and energy industries, stressing that strengthening Egyptian-Emirati cooperation in the petroleum and energy sectors represents an extension of the strategic relations between the two countries and opens up new avenues for partnership and investment.
Eng. Karim Badawi affirmed that the improving investment climate in Egypt's petroleum sector, coupled with the steps taken to strengthen confidence among investment partners, provides a robust foundation for launching a new phase of investments and increasing upstream activities.
For his part, Eng. Abdulla Ateya Al Messabi affirmed ADNOC Drilling's interest in strengthening its presence in the Egyptian market and establishing effective partnerships with EGPC and its affiliated companies, while capitalizing on the significant potential offered by Egypt's petroleum sector.
Al Mesabi praised the clear and ambitious vision of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to increase well drilling activities over the next five years, affirming the company's interest in participating in the implementation of this program and leveraging its technical and technological expertise and capabilities to support the objectives of increasing production.
He also highlighted the importance of cooperation with EDC, given its long history and extensive expertise in drilling oil and gas wells both in Egypt and abroad. He pointed out that specialized technical meetings will be held soon to explore cooperation opportunities between both sides and identify areas of participation in implementing the targeted drilling program.
The meeting comes as part of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources' efforts to expand its partnership base with international and regional companies specializing in drilling and oilfield services, and to secure the capabilities, equipment, and technologies required to implement an expanded drilling program over the coming years, thereby contributing to accelerating the development of petroleum resources and increasing domestic production.
