High-Level Working Group Holds its 6th Meeting of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) Via Video Conference

On 20th May 2020, the high-level work group of the EMGF countries held its 6th meeting, headed by Egypt's representative and head of the work group via video conference, following the precaution procedures for confronting COVID-19 pandemic. The Meeting was held, after invitation of head of the high-level work group to the member countries' representatives, for holding the 6th meeting that was participated by representatives of the founding members: Egypt, Cyprus, Greek, Italy, Israel, Jordan and Palestine, as well as the EU and the World Bank representatives.

The meeting reviewed the whole Forum's activities, and discussed the next steps, which goes along with its objectives of formulating a common vision for the region's natural gas industry future, as well as developing the natural gas market to achieve the optimum utilization of the region's potentials of gas reserves and infrastructure.

The meeting also discussed the arrangements of holding the 4th Ministerial Meeting during June 2020 and the procedures for completing the forum's official entity, through reviewing the final signing procedures, that has been signed before in January 2020, Cairo, completing the required approvals of the EU, according to the commitments of the Forum's country members. It also discussed the procedures for accepting new members in the Gas Industry Advisory Committee, in light of the demands received by the Forum of various region's industry parties.

The meeting concluded its activities by agreeing on holding the 7th meeting of the EMGF's high-level work group during the second half of 2020.
