On 14th February 2023, on the sidelines of EGYPS 2023, Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, continued a series of meetings held with the CEOs of Major IOCs, as he received Ms. Maria Rita Galli, CEO of DESFA, and the accompanying delegation to discuss mechanisms of fostering joint cooperation in natural gas operations, especially exporting and transmitting natural gas to the European countries.
During the meeting, El Molla reviewed the existing LNG facilities and infrastructure in both countries and the best ways to operate these facilities at the ideal capacity for transmitting and exporting gas supplies to Europe, which can be achievable thanks to the role of the EMGF, which brings both Egypt and Greece as founding members. This is in addition to the Egyptian-Greek long-standing and robust ties.
For her part, Maria expressed her company's keenness to establish partnerships with the Egyptian gas companies, highlighting Greece's role as the crossing to export and transmit LNG supplies from Egypt to Europe, especially as the potential, LNG facilities, and infrastructures in both countries will bring benefits for both countries.
