On 13th January 2026, Eng. Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, held a meeting with Eng. Mohsin Alhadhrami, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals and Chairman of Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), on the sidelines of the Future Minerals Forum currently being held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They focused on exchanging expertise in the development of the Mining, Oil and Gas Sectors between both countries.
During the meeting, the Minister reviewed the positive developments achieved in Egypt's Mining Sector, expected to create promising investment opportunities. He highlighted the significant progress made through transforming MRMIA into an economic authority, aiming to facilitate the issuance of licenses and accelerate investment procedures. This has been complemented by the launch of the first comprehensive airborne geophysical and seismic survey of mineral resources in over 40 years, aimed at updating geological data and enhancing resource assessment.
The Minister also discussed the investment opportunities and potential areas of cooperation between both countries in the Mining Sector, in light of the MoU signed last year between Egypt's Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and Oman's Ministry of Energy and Minerals, particularly given the Sultanate of Oman's progress in this field following the completion of a comprehensive airborne survey aimed at the optimal utilization of mineral resources.
In another context, they examined ways to enhance the participation of Egyptian companies in implementing infrastructure projects in the Oil and Gas Sector in the Sultanate. ENPPI and Petrojet are currently executing key projects, while the Egyptian Drilling Company (EDC) has been registered to participate in drilling projects in the Sultanate.
Geologist Yasser Ramadan, Chairman of MRMIA attended the meeting.
