On 13th January 2025, Eng. Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, representing Egypt, participated in the Roundtable meeting of the Ministers of Mining, headed by H.E. Mr. Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, the Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, and attended by the mining sector's ministers and officials from 100 countries, alongside 70 leaders from international organizations and institutions concerned with mining and finance.
The meeting is part of the Future Minerals Forum (FMF), hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh from January 13 to 15, under the theme "Minerals for a New Era of Development." A high-level Egyptian delegation from the mining sector, led by Eng. Karim Badawi, participates in the FMF to showcase and promote investment opportunities in light of new reforms, incentives, and the potential that support attracting more investment for mineral exploration and exploitation in Egypt.

The Minister asserted that Egypt's participation in the previous edition of the FMF in Riyadh was a significant opportunity for exchanging expertise and advanced models. This supported efforts to develop a legislative framework that attracts investment to the mining sector, in addition to bolstering human capacity-building programs and the training and qualification of mining personnel using more advanced models aligned with global practices.

The Minister also discussed the priorities of international cooperation in the mining sector, which included mineral supply chains, infrastructure financing, and human capacity building, as well as enhancing transparency and sustainability within the mining industry.
Both parties reviewed strengthening international coordination to address challenges and drive the mining sector's role in development.
