As part of ongoing efforts to stimulate investment in the mining sector, Eng. Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, held a meeting with the Board of Directors of the Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority (MRMIA), headed by Geologist Yasser Ramadan, to review ongoing work plans in light of the Authority's transformation into an economic authority. This step aims to support a stronger leap of the sector and gradually increase its contribution to the national GDP.
During the meeting, the Minister discussed with the Authority's Board several key topics, most notably the mechanism for implementing the comprehensive airborne geophysical survey for minerals across Egypt during this year. They also reviewed the latest progress on launching an integrated digital portal for mining investment in Egypt.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister praised the Cabinet's decision to approve that MRMIA contracts with X-Calibur to conduct a comprehensive geophysical aerial survey for minerals countrywide. He emphasized that this project is among the most significant initiatives MRMIA will implement in 2026, as it represents a fundamental step toward identifying critical minerals and rare elements essential for various industries.
The Minister asserted that the implementation of this national project requires unifying the efforts of all relevant authorities to monitor each phase of execution. He called for continued coordination to ensure adherence to specified timelines, the achievement of project objectives, and the maximization of benefits from the resulting data and findings.
