Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources:
- Egypt Started Actual Steps in the Hydrogen Industry.
- We Have the Necessary Potentials for Attracting Investments of Green Hydrogen Industry.
On 9th June 2021, Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, affirmed that Egypt began actual steps to participate in the hydrogen industry, as well as producing it, as a clean source of fuel.
The Minster pointed out that the hydrogen industry in Egypt, is currently under development, through a specialized Ministerial Committee in which the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources participates as a main member. He also clarified that the Petroleum Sector is currently communicating with countries and IOCs, of great technical expertise in this domain, to explore opportunities for cooperation, and that experimental projects have been implemented in Egypt.
This came during Eng. Tarek El Molla's participation, as a keynote speaker, in the first Forum's activities, "1st Unlocking Industries – Hydrogen in Africa", via video conference, participated by Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Egyptian Ambassador to Berlin, and organized by Afrika-Verein Association, in the framework of the German-African Energy Days 2021.
El Molla added that Egypt has major potentials and competitive advantages enabling it to participate in the hydrogen industry, in light of the availability of natural gas resources, for bolstering the blue hydrogen production, which is considered significant in the short and medium terms, so as to produce the green hydrogen effectively and economically.
