On 14th April 2026, Eng. Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, witnessed the signing of a phosphate ore supply contract between Misr Phosphate Company and Indorama Corporation, to meet the requirements of the new phosphate fertilizer production complex, established as a partnership between the two companies in Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) in Sokhna.
The contract was signed by Eng. Mohamed Abdel-Azim, Chairman of Misr Phosphate, and Mr. Mukul Agrawal, Executive Director of Indorama, in the presence of Dr. Mohamed El-Bagouri, Supervisor of the Central Department of Legal Affairs at the Ministry.

The new project aims to produce 600,000 tons annually in its first phase, with investments of about $525 million.
Eng. Karim Badawi stated that the Prime Minister had previously witnessed the signing of the partnership agreement between both companies to establish this project. The project aligns with the Ministry's strategy to maximize the economic value of Egypt's phosphate resources by expanding industrial projects for their development and utilization, in cooperation with specialized national and international investors.
He added that the project reflects the Ministry's current direction toward achieving integration between mining and industrial activities, contributing to increased value addition and maximizing economic returns for the Egyptian economy.
