At the Conclusion of His Participation in ADIPEC 2025… Intensive Meetings for the Minister of Petroleum with International Energy Leaders

On the 5th of November 2025, at the conclusion of his participation in the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC 2025), Eng. Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, held a series of intensive meetings with senior executives of major international companies operating in the fields of energy, oil, natural gas and investment. The discussions focused on strengthening existing partnerships and exploring new cooperation opportunities in oil, gas and energy transition domains.


Eng. Karim Badawi met with Paul Marsden, President of Bechtel Corporation, where they reviewed the progress of joint cooperation in a number of new refining projects, in addition to the successful collaboration in establishing the first specialized school for safety and risk management in Ain Sokhna. The Minister praised the company's efforts in supporting safety programs within Egypt's petroleum sector, expressing his aspiration to replicate the Safety Schools initiative across other geographic areas of the sector, and to continue cooperation with Enppi and Petrojet both domestically and internationally.

The Minister also held a meeting with Song Yu, CEO of United Energy Group, during which he asserted the importance of the company continuing to intensify development and production activities in its concession areas in the Western Desert, with a focus on increasing production levels. The Minister urged the company to move forward with its exploration program across its current sectors and new concessions, encouraging it to expand and capitalize on opportunities available through Egypt Upstream Gateway (EUG). He also invited the CEO to attend the Egypt International Energy Exhibition and Conference (EGYPES 2026) as Guest of Honor and Keynote Speaker.

Furthermore, the Minister met with Olivier Blaringhem, Executive Vice President Subsea & Conventional at Subsea 7, where the two sides discussed enhancing cooperation in the execution of engineering and construction works at deepwater petroleum sites. Eng. Karim Badawi asserted that the petroleum sector is currently expanding its natural gas upstream activities, while working to accelerate the placement of newly discovered wells into production in the shortest possible time. He also highlighted the role of advanced digital solutions in enhancing efficiency and extending the operational lifespan of production facilities. Both sides agreed to broaden their cooperation to include low-carbon solutions and energy transition projects, particularly hydrogen, as well as occupational safety and energy efficiency. The Minister also invited the company's Chairman to participate in the Egypt International Energy Exhibition and Conference (EGYPES 2026).

The Minister concluded his meetings with a session with Dr. Daniel Yergin, Vice Chairman of S&P Global, during which they discussed future growth pathways for Egypt's energy sector. The minister highlighted Egypt's efforts to step up upstream activities and to leverage its LNG infrastructure to maximize the value of hydrocarbon resources. Eng. Karim Badawi shed light on the Egypt Upstream Gateway (EUG) initiative as a model of digital transformation aimed to reduce investment risks and attract capital through the digitization of geological data. Both sides agreed to explore areas of cooperation in data analysis, assessments, studies, and consultancy services related to strategy development, as well as energy and minerals outlooks. The Minister was also invited to take part in the global CERAWeek conference in the United States.
