Eng. Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated as a keynote speaker in the inauguration of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC 2025), attended by a wide gathering of global energy leaders.
Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and CEO of ADNOC Group inaugurated the conference, followed by a keynote address from U.S. Secretary of Interior and Chairman of the National Energy Council, Doug Burgum.
Eng. Karim Badawi delivered remarks during the conference’s ministerial opening session titled “Energy Realities: Securing the future in an uncertain world,” alongside Eng. Suhail Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, and Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy Affairs.
During the session, Eng. Karim Badawi emphasized that Egypt is working on strengthening its position as a regional energy hub and to play a pivotal role in the region’s energy landscape by maximizing the use of its robust infrastructure and expanding cooperation with partners to provide energy supplies not only for Egypt, but for the entire region. In this regard, He shed light on the ongoing cooperation with Cyprus to make Cypriot gas available for export to global markets through Egypt, as well as with the UAE-based company, Arcius, which has chosen Egypt as the hub for its regional operations.
He added that Egypt is working to achieve balance in its energy mix, ensuring the allocation of gas for value-added industries.
Furthermore, the Minister stated that Egypt gives priority to the mining sector—not only in the extraction of raw materials but also in cooperating with partners to establish downstream industries that maximize the sector’s economic value.
