On 22nd February 2022, Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources in Egypt and the GECF Chairperson of the Executive Board Member in its current edition, delivered Egypt's speech during the Forum extraordinary ministerial meeting, held prior the sixth summit of the Forum's Countries and government Heads, in the framework of preparing the summit, with the participation of Mr. Mohamed Hamel, Secretary General of the Forum as well as the petroleum and energy Ministers of the member countries, including Ministers of Egypt, Algeria, Qatar, Libya, Russia, Iran, Venezuela, Bolivia, Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, Trinidad and Tobago as permanent members, along with the UAE, Iraq, Malaysia, Peru, Azerbaijan, Norway and Angola as observers member, and Mozambique, which is participating as a guest in the current meeting.
El Molla pointed out that natural gas as a clean fuel is one of the most important solutions that support the global trend for confronting the climate change problem and providing clean energy sources with low carbon emissions.
El Molla asserted on the significance of providing financing, available technologies and building capacities to support the sustainable exploitation of natural gas for facilitating the just energy transition. In this context, the Minister affirmed Egypt's aspiration to the success of the World Climate Summit Cop27 that Egypt will host this year, on behalf of the African continent, for reaching realistic solutions and initiatives to face the climate change problem.
El Molla affirmed the importance of the GECF's efforts in enhancing the natural gas role, in facilitating the gradual energy transition for emissions reduction, as the Forum represents a significant platform for cooperation and dialogue within the gas industry, in addition to its members have about 70% of the total international proven gas reserves, adding that the common interest of the Forum's countries, is providing natural gas resources in an environmentally responsible manner with minimal impact on the climate, through decreasing emissions and gas decarbonization.

On the other hand, Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources & the GECF Chairperson of the Executive Board Member in its current edition, awarded the first edition of the Forum's rewards, appreciating those who contributed for successive decades, in bolstering and managing natural gas projects regionally and internationally.
