On 18th September 2024, Eng. Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated in the inauguration of Gastech Conference and Exhibition 2024, at Houston City in the US State of Texas. The Conference is taking place during 17-20 September 2024, with the participation of various Energy Ministers and IOCs.

Eng. Badawi participated as a keynote speaker at the Ministerial Panel of the Opening Ceremony, along with the Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas of India, Minister of Energy & Natural Resources of Turkey, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources and Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (gas) of Nigeria.

The Minister reviewed efforts of attracting investments for Petroleum and Gas Sector for increasing production, as well as supporting utilizing technology and methods of best exploitation of the infrastructure. He also highlighted benefiting from Egypt's role as a regional energy hub; as Egypt represents a gate between East, West and North in natural gas and hydrogen trade, in light of available needed infrastructure and renewable energy sources i.e. solar and wind. That's besides intensifying regional cooperation to receive gas from East Mediterranean countries, through the infrastructure, to be liquefied, then to be exported to European markets. Moreover, the Minister mentioned the importance of increasing renewable energy capacities in the energy mix in Egypt to reach 42% by 2030, within the framework of the integrated and sustainable energy strategy.
