On 4th Nov.2021, Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated in the World Climate Summit/ COP 26, at Glasgow, upon an invitation by U.S. Energy Secretary, Jennifer Granholm, whereas he  represented Egypt, in launching the Net Zero World Initiative by the United States of America; a new partnership between the world countries working to accelerate energy transition systems to net zero emissions.

Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated in a dialogue panel, moderated by U.S. Energy Secretary, Jennifer Granholm, and attended by Petroleum and Energy Ministers in Nigeria, Indonesia and Ukraine, entitled: "Net Zero World Partner Countries". In which, El Molla asserted in his speech at the session that Egypt follows an ambitious strategy that supports its transition into using clean energy and reducing carbon dioxide emissions, as part of its sustainable development vision (Egypt 2030). 

He added that this strategy adopts three pillars, on top of which, the promotion of natural gas as a transit fuel, preparing a national plan to expand the use of hydrogen as a clean energy source, besides maximizing the usage of renewable energy resources, as well as reaching a proper energy mix such as solar and wind energy. 

El Molla affirmed Egypt's commitment to confronting climate change and the principles of the climate summit, expressing Egypt's aspiration for the success of the current Summit, and looking forward to hosting the upcoming World Climate Summit/Cop27, on behalf of the African Continent.
