Midstream Projects

The strategy of petroleum sector based on fulfilling the domestic market needs through reaching the optimal usage of the different means of transportation and distribution of the crude oil and petroleum products. In order to increase the observation and monitoring level the petroleum products, the petroleum sector implemented the SCADA system, which collects data from smart card system, ATG system and GPS system to link and integrate between their functions to enable a complete control.

This is done by the different means of transportation, which are as follows:

  • The National Pipelines Network, which is about 5000 km long and includes the transportation of crude and petroleum products.
  • Trucks to transport and distribute products through (12) petroleum marketing companies with no. of (3593) fuel stations as well as (1550) industrial customers.
  • Marine units for transporting crude between different ports.
  • River Tankers.

The following are the projects that have been established, under construction or under study, which are related to the transportation and distribution activities:

First: Projects completed during 2017/2018:

  • Exploitation of the berth facilities of the Sumed port Company to receive LPG tankers with capacity of 45 thousand tons, replacing the small cargos that were received at the Suez port and linking these facilities to the national pipeline network.
