General Guidelines for safety, health and environmental protection

The Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) is committed to exert its maximum effort in the fields of occupational health, safety and environmental protection, due to their significant outcome on the oil & gas industry workers, production processes and surrounding environment. Therefore, EGPC's upper management team has took the responsibly of working close to the sector companies management to assist in merging these fields into their business management system, as a step towards oil & gas sector performance enhancing.

 

The sector objectives in these fields are:


First: Safety of indiveduals

EGPC, along with the sector companies are committed to provide a sound working environment for both the sector employees and partners, as well as the surrounding communities, in a way that does not expose their health to any risks. For instance, the sector companies provides an intensive on-the-Job training in the fields of occupational safety, health and environmental protection for both its employees and contractor workers, who are located within the sector companies' site. The training is mainly based on up-to-date methods and systems applied internationally and in accordance with local laws


 Second: Managing Risk Events

EGPC works in solidarity with sector companies to build and improve their capabilities to manage & contain risk events. The system is based on adopting a preventive approach, designed to identify the sources of risk, assess the assumed risks, and take a preventive measures to minimize losses in the company's employees, facilities and equipment.


Third: Environmental protection

EGPC works in solidarity with its partners, weather governmental or non-governmental, to find effective methods in the fields of environmental protection & ecosystem conservation. These methods aiming to control harmful influence of various activities and improve work sites performance. These processes mainly focus on emissions, discharges and waste management, while rationalizing energy and reducing consumption.
