The role of women across
all industry verticals has become indispensable for global economic development.
Although men have had the major share until now, women have begun gaining in
the leadership race despite growing challenges in the corporate ladder and the boardroom
structure.
As a prime industry
driving global economies, the energy sector has also seen lower participation
of women, particularly due to unfavourable working environments. To bring a
shift in this norm, the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral resources
has been championing several initiatives to elevate the role of women in the
Egyptian oil & gas sector - following which the country is experiencing a
30% surge in the number of women employees in the petroleum sector.
In line with the
national objectives and vision of the leadership, since 2017, the Ministry of
Petroleum and Mineral Resources has been driving this key initiative to recognise
and celebrate the accomplishments of outstanding women in the global energy
industry during the Egypt Petroleum Show (EGYPS) through the Global Equality in
Energy Conference and Awards (formerly Women in Energy Conference &
Awards).
Global thought leaders
and advocates of equality, women empowerment, inclusion, and diversity gather
during the Global Equality in Energy Conference & Awards to build an
international energy community that provides equal opportunities for women, men,
and people of determination.
