inaugurated the exhibition for “The Vehicles' Clean Energy Conversion and
Replacement Technologies”. El Molla reviewed the Ministry's work plan for
expanding the use of natural gas, in the presence of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly,
Prime Minister and a number of government Ministers, as well as local and
international companies specialized in this domain.
• 13/1/2021: Dr. Hala El Said, Minister of Planning and Economic
Development and Egypt’s Governor at the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), Eng. Tarek
El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Dr. Ali Al Moselhy,
Minister of Supply & Internal Trade, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of
International Cooperation and Ms. Nevine Gamea, Minister of Trade and Industry,
witnessed the signing ceremony of the International Islamic Trade Finance
Corporation's (ITFC) 2021 financing program, (via video conference), to provide
integrated financing solutions for Egypt of $ 1.1 billion.
• 21/1/2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of
Petroleum and Mineral Resources, witnessed the signing of 5 contracts for gold
exploration for Canadian and Egyptian companies, with the Egyptian Mineral
Resources Authority (EMRA); with total investment of about $ 13 million in 13
sectors; which is the result of the first International bid round of gold
exploration for the year 2020, launched by Egypt, and its result was announced
last November.

.1-2-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of
Petroleum and Mineral Resources, inaugurated the activities of the virtual
symposium entitled "Modernizing Process Safety Management: From Vision to
Reality", organized by the Egyptian Process Safety Management (PSM)
Steering Committee in the Sector, in cooperation with Methanex Egypt.
.9-2-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of
Petroleum and Mineral Resources, received the Mining Committee delegation of
the AmCham in Egypt, which was formed for the first time in the Chamber's
history.
.18-2-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of
Petroleum and Mineral Resources, announced via video conference the launch of Egypt
Upstream Gateway "EUG", as the 1st digital platform for
providing geological data for upstream activities in Egypt, within the framework
of the attracting Investments program, of the Petroleum Sector’s Modernization
project.
El Molla also announced the launch of the
1st International bid round for oil and gas exploration for the year
2021, of EGPC and EGAS, through the EUG at 24 blocks in the Gulf of Suez, the
Western Desert, and the Eastern &
Western Mediterranean.
.21-2-2021: A Meeting
was held between Eng. Tarek El Molla and Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, in the presence
of Eng. Zafer Melhem, Chairman of the
Palestinian Energy and Natural Resources Authority at
the Presidential headquarters in Ramallah, during El Molla’s first visit to
Palestine, after his meeting with H.E President Mahmoud Abbas. Both sides
signed an MoU among the partners of Gaza gas field; the Palestine Investment Fund,
the Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) and EGAS, to cooperate in developing
Gaza gas field and the necessary infrastructure, in order to provide
Palestine's needs of natural gas, enhancing cooperation between both countries,
as well as exporting part of the gas to Egypt.
.26-2-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of
Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated via video conference in the 5th
IEF-EU Energy and Climate Day, organized by the International Energy Forum in
cooperation with the EU, and the participation of Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al
Saud, Saudi Energy Minister, Tinne Van der Straeten, Belgium Energy Minister and
Frans Timmermans, Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal, at the European
Commission, as well as Joseph McMonigle, Secretary General of the International
Energy Forum.
1-3-2021: The Ministry of Petroleum Officially
Launches the 1st Mobile Application for Locations of Natural Gas Vehicles
Fueling Stations
Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and
Mineral Resources, announced that the Ministry has actually launched the 1st
mobile application to find out the locations of Natural Gas vehicles Fueling
Stations and the conversion centers, displaying the nearest ones where the
citizen exist, as well as introducing the available services. He clarified
that, this comes within the framework of the Ministry's efforts and endeavors
to facilitate benefiting from the natural gas for vehicles.

4-3-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of
Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated, via video conference, in the
activities of the (CERAWeek) Conference, the world's premier energy event,
which was held virtually during the period from 1st to 5th March 2021 at the U.S,
due to the precautionary measures of COVID-19 pandemic. El Molla delivered a
speech in a panel discussion within the conference activities under the title,
"The New Map: Energy, Climate and Charting the Future".
5-3-2021: Verocy, the Dutch website, specialized
in investment consultants of the Middle East and North Africa countries,
published a report on Egypt's progress in exporting LNG to the international
markets, during the coming period, in light of the expected growing demand on
natural gas, and Egypt's distinct infrastructure for exporting gas produced
from its fields, and the East Mediterranean fields, for contributing in
securing the needs of the European markets during the coming period. The report
was written by the economic analyst, Cyril Widdershoven, under the title
(Pharaonic gas dreams to restart? LNG exports precursor for East MED gas Sector
expansion).
9-3-2021: The 4th Ministerial Meeting of the EMGF
was held in Cairo, in the presence of the Founding Energy Ministers of Cyprus,
Egypt, Greece, Israel, Jordan, Palestine and the Italian Vice Minister of
Economic Development. They announced that the EMGF Statute enters into force
starting March 2021. The Ministers acknowledged that this significant milestone
is a result of serious steps and successive achievements realized since
launching the Forum in January 2019, though the intensive cooperation among
Founding Members, and the tremendous efforts exerted by their professional
teams.
12-3-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of
Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated in the meeting organized by the
AmCham in Egypt, entitled "Egypt's Strategy to Promote Investments in the
Mining Sector".
During his speech, El Molla asserted that the
Mining Sector started reaping the fruits of the Modernization program, being
implemented to cope with the Mining Sector's international developments, as
well as transferring Egypt into an international destination for attracting
mining investment and encouraging investors.
8-4-2021: Eng.
Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Dr. Hala
Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, witnessed the delivery of 20
ventilators with a total cost exceeding $ 600,000 provided by Eni. That’s in
the framework of the initiative of the Petroleum Sector and IOCs operating in
Egypt, for bolstering the Ministry of Health’s efforts in confronting COVID-19
pandemic.
9-4-2021: Eng.
Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated in
the ceremony of launching and delivering the first batch of gas-powered cars,
as part of the presidential initiative to replace and convert vehicles to run with
natural gas, in the presence of the Minister of Finance, Minister of Industry
and Trade, and Vice President for Financial Affairs.
10-4-2021: Operating
the first a mobile CNG fueling station, one of the advanced methods of the
Petroleum Sector, aiming at facilitating the services of supplying vehicles
with natural gas.
13-4-2021: Eng.
Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated in a panel
discussion via video conference, within the activities of the annual Forum of
the United Nations Economic and Social Council, entitled "Financing for
Sustainable Development", with the participation of the Minister of
International Cooperation, Vice President of the International Finance
Corporation for the Middle East and Africa, member of the Executive Committee
of the World Economic Forum and President of Europe, Eurasia and the Middle
East region.
21-4-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla,
Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, witnessed the signing of an MoU
between Petrojet & TR Co. for Manufacturing Thermal Equipment, aiming at
cooperating in designing, supplying and manufacturing equipment, included in
the components of petroleum projects.
9-5-2021: The Ministry of International Cooperation held a multi stake holder platform, entitled: "Egypt as a Regional Energy Hub: Reforms and Prospects in the Petroleum and Gas Sector", attended by Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and officials of major foreign and private companies operating in Egypt.
12-5-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, witnessed the signing of a contract for gold exploration in the Eastern Desert, between the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority (EMRA) and the English Co. Nubian Mining, with total investments of $ 5.2 million for one block.
14-5-2021: For the first time, the Petroleum Sector started the actual operation of the first mobile natural gas fueling station in Egypt and East Mediterranean region for fueling cars and vehicles with CNG. It started providing its services in populated areas, it is characterized by its readiness to fuel 500 vehicles every 12 hours, up to 1000 per day, with refill.
20-5-2021: The Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries "OAPEC" clarified in a report, entitled "The Development of LNG and Hydrogen" during Q1 of 2021, that Egypt was on top of the Arab countries' exports during Q1 of 2021, that exported about 2 million tons, compared to 0.4 million tons during the same quarter of 2020, about 400% annual growth rate, which is the optimum growth achieved by Egypt.
27-5-2021: Signing a contract appendix for supplying natural gas, as well as operating natural gas grid expansions in Jordon, operated by the Jordanian Egyptian FAJR Company.

5-6-2021: Dr.Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, accompanied by Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, visited the Suez Canal Economic Zone in Ain Sokhna, to lay the foundation stone for the first petrochemical complex in the economic zone, with investments of about $7.5 billion, providing 15,000 job opportunities.
8-6-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, delivered a speech at the virtual webinar, held by the British Egyptian Business Association (BEBA), via video conference, entitled "Oil and Gas Sector's Achievements", in the presence of Khaled Nosseir, Chairman of BEBA.
9-6-2021: Eng.Tarek El Molla participated, as a keynote speaker, in the first Forum's activities, "1st Unlocking Industries – Hydrogen in Africa", via video conference, participated by Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Egyptian Ambassador to Berlin, and organized by Afrika-Verein Association, in the framework of the German-African Energy Days 2021.
13-6-2021: In the framework of implementing and applying digital transformation in all domains, which the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources is adopting; Petrotrade has started to modernize the technology system concerning the whole company's services, and started planning a new vision in digital transformation, including establishing and updating the electronic applications, and launching Petrometer application.
29-6-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated in a meeting organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt entitled, "The Oil and Gas Sector's Transformation Fueling the Egyptian Economy", in the presence of Jonathan Cohen, the US Ambassador to Egypt, as well as a number of leaders in the Petroleum Sector and Heads of national and foreign petroleum companies. The Minister announced that upon the request of a large number of IOCs, the deadline for closing the first international bid round for oil and gas exploration & exploitation for the year 2021, in 24 blocks, was extended until the end of September 2021.

Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, headed the 5th EMGF’s Ministerial Meeting, hosted by Egypt,
via video conference, in the presence of the member countries’ Minsters and the
Acting US Assistant Secretary for Energy. They all agreed by consensus on joining
the EU and the International Bank to the Forum as observers.
8-7-2021: Eng.
Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Dr. Mohamed
Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, in the presence of Mr.
Alessandro Politi, Chief Operating Officer Natural Resources of Eni, witnessed
the signing of an MoU between the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS),
the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company and the Italian company, Eni, to
cooperate in green and blue hydrogen production domain and evaluating the
technical and commercial feasibilities of its production projects targeted in
Egypt.
9-7-2021: Eng.
Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources witnessed the signing of two agreements
between the Petroleum Sector and the American Bechtel Group, for implementing
the main design and constructions works of the Red Sea Petrochemical Complex
Project, as well as forming a consortium
for implementing the project in Ain Sokhna economic zone, which is considered
the largest petrochemical project in Egypt and Africa, with investments of about
$7.5 billion.
26-7-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and
Mineral Resources, honored Petrojet, the executive arm of the Petroleum Sector,
for obtaining Guinness World Records certificate for implementing the largest
floating roof tank in Ras Badran, with a capacity of 175,000 m3, equivalent to
about 1.1 mb of crude oil.
8-9-2021: In the presence of Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan hosted the Ministerial Meeting of the Arab Gas Pipeline countries (AGP) (Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon). During the meeting, they agreed on delivering the Egyptian natural gas to the Lebanese Republic through Jordan and Syria, as well as presenting a scheduled agenda for its implementation.
22-9-2021: The International Energy Forum (IEF) and the International Gas Union (IGU), decided to choose Egypt for hosting the 8th Ministerial Gas Forum in 2022.
28-9-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated in the Ministerial session entitled "Repositioning the industry post pandemic and looking ahead". The session was held at opening session of OMC Med Energy Conference and Exhibition in Ravenna, Italy, under the theme, "Rethinking Energy Together: Alliances For a Sustainable Energy Future".
10-10-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla. Minister of Petroleum and Mineral resources, witnessed the signing of an MoU between Enppi and the Italian company, Technip, for cooperation in the energy transition domain, within the framework of the Ministry's commitment to achieve sustainable development, according to Egypt's 2030 Vision, as well as enhancing the potentials of clean energy utilization.
11-10-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated in the virtual webinar entitled, "Digital Transformation in the Petroleum Sector", organized by Egypt Oil & Gas.
18-10-2021: The 9th tripartite summit between Egypt, Cyprus and Greece, held in the Greek capital, Athens, between leaders of the three countries. Announcements of President El-Sisi about moving forward in the steps of establishing an offshore pipeline for transferring the Cypriot gas to the liquefaction plants of Damietta and Idku, in preparation of supplying LNG to Greece, then to east Mediterranean countries and Central Europe, in light of the EMGF goals.
4-11-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated in the World Climate Summit/ COP 26, at Glasgow, upon an invitation by U.S. Secretary of Energy, Jennifer Granholm, whereas he represented Egypt, in launching the Net Zero World Initiative by the United States of America.
15-11-2021: Eng. Tarek El-Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated in the opening ceremony of Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC) 2021", held in the UAE capital, during 15-18 November 2021, under the theme " Unlocking New Value Opportunities in the Energy System ", with participation of more than 160 Petroleum and Energy Ministers, IOC's CEOs, as well as a number of distinctive experts worldwide.
15-11-2021: Eng. Tarek El-Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, visiting the Egyptian pavilion at ADIPEC exhibition in Abu Dhabi. The pavilion includes a presentation for the successes of oil and gas industry in Egypt and the most significant attractive investment opportunities and potentials of success, on the sidelines of his participation in the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC).
18-11-2021: Eng. Tarek El-Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, witnessed a panel discussion at the Egyptian pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, praising the successes, reflecting the development in Egypt throughout history till reaching the New Republic, pointing out that the excessive presence of visitors at the pavilion reflects its great significance and distinction among all the pavilions participating in Expo 2020 Dubai.
25-11-2021: The Sixth Ministerial Meeting of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) was convened in Cairo - The Arab Republic of Egypt- under the Presidency of His Excellency Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of the Arab Republic of Egypt, as the current President of the EMGF Ministerial Meeting.
The Meeting was attended by the Cypriot, Egyptian, Greek, Israeli, Jordanian and Palestinian Ministers of Energy, as well as the French Director General for Global Affairs, Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and the Italian Directorate General for Infrastructure and security of Energy at the Ministry of Ecological Transition as heads of delegations of the EMGF Member Countries. Besides, the United States of America, the European Union and the World Bank attended as EMGF Observers.
27-11-2021: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources headed the first General Assembly of Eqat Gold Mines Company, responsible for developing the commercial discovery of Eqat.
7-12-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated in the 23rd Petroleum World Congress in Houston, USA, considered as one of the most prestigious international gatherings for petroleum and energy parties worldwide.
14-12-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, held a meeting with Canada Egypt Business Council (CEBC), reviewing the Petroleum Sector's most significant work results, sheding light on the new strategy of CSR, adopted by the Petroleum Sector.
22-12-2021: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi inaugurated the complex of high-octane gasoline in Assiut, with investment of more than L.E 7 billion and a production capacity of 800 thousand tons of gasoline. Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, reviewed the Petroleum Sector's efforts in developing Upper Egypt in various petroleum activities.
24-12-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Eng. Abed Ezz El Regal, CEO of the EGPC, and Alessandro Puliti, Chief Operating Officer Natural Resources of Eni, signed an agreement between the EGPC and Eni on oil exploration, development and exploitation in the Gulf of Suez areas and Nile Delta, issued under Law No. 185 of 2021. The agreement includes Eni's commitment to spend minimum investments of $1 billion, in addition to its commitment to spend additional $20 million at least for drilling 4 wells.
27-12-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Eng. Abed Ezz El Regal, CEO of EGPC, and Mr. David Chi, Vice President of the American Apache and General Manager of the company in Egypt, signed an agreement; under which Apache is committed to spend a minimum of $3.5 billion on upstream and production operations in the concession areas at the Western Desert. The agreement comes within the framework of the joint modernization efforts between both sides, through merging the concession areas of Khalda and Qarun Petroleum Companies, operating on behalf of EGPC and Apache.
