Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, held a meeting at the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources in the  New Administrative Capital, in the presence of a number of leaders from both Ministries, to discuss the integration of their efforts in many files, foremost of which is reaching a framework for applying technology and CCUS projects in oil and gas industry projects, as well as cooperation in preparing Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES 2024).
  • 7-2-2024 Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, the new exchange control center for the national natural gas network in the Dahshur area, which was equipped with a Dahshur gas compressor station to operate as an exchange center with the National Control Center NATA for expanding developments in Upper Egypt, as well as meeting the needs of the safe operation of the national natural gas network.

Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement for establishing a hospital for critical cases and emergencies within the campus of Al-Iman General Hospital in Assiut Governorate, within the framework of the role of the community petroleum sector and its contribution to supporting the areas of health care for citizens.

Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, witnessed the signing of an MOU to study the feasibility of producing green hydrogen at El Nasr Petroleum Company in Suez, as part of the Egyptian Petroleum Sector's plans to implement green projects and achieve environmental sustainability.
  • 21-2-2024 A cooperation agreement was signed regarding the establishment of a biogas production unit between Eng. Wael Lotfy, CEO of ENPPI, Eng. Nabawy Mahmoud, CEO of the Petroleum Pipelines Company, and Dr. Talaat Abdel Qawi on behalf of Bioenregy, it included coordination between the concerned companies according to the social responsibility strategy and in accordance with the third pillar related to HSE projects.

  • 21-2-2024 Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, signed 3 cooperation agreements. As per these agreements, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources provides new communal contributions to support education in a number of Egypt's Governorates, through building developed schools, applied technology schools in Damietta, Matrouh, and Red Sea, in the framework of the CSR of the Egyptian petroleum sector in the economic, sustainable development.
  • 21-2-2024 After the activities of the third day of the 7th edition of the Egypt International Energy Conference and Exhibition "EGYPES 2024", held under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the People's Choice Awards were distributed for the Climate Technology Challenge. He also awarded PIKARE Water & Energy Technologies R&D the first place, and Golu H2 Technologies, the second place.
  • 21-2-2024 as part of the activities of EGYPES 2024, Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, met with a delegation from GAC Company, specialized in shipping, logistics and offshore services, in the presence of Eng. Mahmoud Nagy, Undersecretary for transportation and marketing petroleum products and Eng. Nasser Shoman, the CEO of Cooperation Petroleum company. He discussed with the CEO of Capricorn Energy the company's activities in its concession areas in Egypt. He also discussed with the Chairman of JETCO International opportunities for cooperation in implementing projects outside Egypt and the mutual cooperation in energy projects with OME. He also discussed with the Deputy Chairman of UAE-based National Marine Dredging Company (NMDC), and the accompanying delegation to explore means of mutual collaboration with the Petroleum Sector in designing and executing petroleum projects.
  • 22-2-2024 Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, received Michele Quaroni, the Italian Ambassador to Cairo, and his accompanying delegation from the Italian company Technip and funding entities, at the headquarters of the Middle East Oil Refinery Company (Midor) in Alexandria. During the meeting, they discussed joint and extended cooperation between both parties in the Energy Sector, the oil and gas industry, the implementation of the Midor Refinery projects, and the new diesel production project in Upper Egypt

  • 1-3-2024 On behalf of President Sisi, Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated as a representative of Egypt in the extraordinary Ministerial Meeting of the GECF, held in Algeria. Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, delivered Egypt's speech in the opening session of the 7th GECF summit. On the sidelines of his participation in the 7th GECF summit attended by Heads of State and Government in Algeria, Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, held talks with the Energy Ministers of Qatar, the Russian Federation and Venezuela, as well as the Secretary-General of OPEC, during which he discussed means of opening new horizons of cooperation in the energy domain, in light of the available opportunities. Eng. Tarek El Molla participated in the Forum's awards ceremony in its second edition, organized for appreciating those who contributed, for successive decades, to supporting and managing natural gas projects regionally and internationally.
  • 13- 3- 2024 The Ministers of Petroleum & Mineral Resources, Civil Aviation, Environment, Trade & Industry, Agriculture & Land Reclamation, as well as the Public Business Sector held a meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources in the New Administrative Capital in the presence of ministries' officials. They discussed coordination and cooperation mechanisms for the SAF production, in light of the Petroleum Sector's initiative that aims at implementing the first project in this domain.
  • 22- 3-2024 Egypt's Fuel Automatic Pricing Committee for petroleum products was held to review and determine the petroleum products' prices.
  • 24-3-2024 Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, met with H.E Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States. They discussed ways for supporting and enhancing cooperation between both countries in the Petroleum Sector.
  • 26-3-2024 Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, received a delegation from Honeywell International Company, headed by Khaled Hashem, President for the Middle East and Africa region. They discussed the possibility of implementing several joint projects between the Petroleum Sector and Honeywell Company on the biofuel, emissions reduction and training cadres' domains.

  • 1-4-2024 Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, received Denys Toscano Amores, the Ecuadorian Ambassador to Cairo. They discussed means of mutual cooperation between both countries in the oil and gas industry domains.
  • 12-4-2024 Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources follows up Center of Excellence for Energy (COE) Transition, or its essential role as the first strategic entity specialized in serving the oil and gas sector as well as the energy-intensive Sectors in Egypt and the African continent in promoting the transition to sustainable, low-carbon energy systems.
  • 15- 4-2024 According to the strategy of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources for energy transition and emissions reduction, Enppi - Petrojet Consortium, the executive arms of the Petroleum Sector, for engineering designs, general contracting and construction domains, implements a 10MW solar power plant in cooperation with Assiut Oil Refining Company (ASORC). The Station is estimated to be completed, with an investment of about EGP 550 million, within 11 months.
  • 23-4-2024 Eng. Tarek El-Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and H.E. Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, witnessed the signing of two CSR Agreements to Support Healthcare in Matrouh, Port Said Governates by the Italian company Eni.
  • 24-4-2024 Within the framework of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources' CSR strategy, a new fully equipped CT scan room was inagurated for the main university hospital affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine - Alexandria University, which was implemented in cooperation between Alexandria National Refine & Petrochemical Company (ANRPC), Abu Qir Fertilizers and Chemical Industries Co. with the University in Alexandria Governorate.

They discussed the company's activities in Egypt and its operations plans in the Eastern and Western Deserts.
  • 20-5-2024 Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has attended the demonstration of a practical maneuver to simulate an emergency response to a marine pollution crisis involving petroleum products.

Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources received Linda Cook, Harbour Energy CEO, one of the leading British companies working in oil, gas and energy domain and entering the Egyptian market for the first time through acquiring the concession areas of the German company Wintershall Dea in Egypt.
  • 3-6-2024 Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources received Alan Linn, Cheiron Energy CEO, and his accompanying delegation. They discussed the company's activities in Egypt and its plans in light of the company's implementation of an extensive drilling program in its concession areas in the Mediterranean Sea, the Eastern and Western Deserts, and the Gulf of Suez.

Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, inaugurated the Industrial Drainage Plant of Al Amal Petroleum Company (Amapetco). It is the first station of its kind and efficiency in Egypt and the Middle East that serves petroleum production operations, preserves the environment, and achieves the goals of the COP27 Climate Conference, which was held recently in Sharm El-Sheikh - Egypt.

Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, held talks with Dr. Saleh El-Kharabsheh, the Jordanian Energy Minister, to discuss the strategies set to secure the provision and diversification of energy sources between both countries, in accordance with the mechanisms that maintain energy security. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, awarded the first bunkering license for an international company's bunkering services at Egyptian ports to Minerva Group, which will start its fueling services for marine vessels in Port Said, asserting that delivering the first license is the beginning of a series to maximizing the added value of the Egyptian Ports and the Suez Canal, which is a significant step within this framework.
  • 30-5-2023 Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, inaugurated the expansions of the North Geisum field in the Petrogulf concession area in the Gulf of Oil in the Eastern Desert as the field's production jumped from 4 thousand to 19 thousand barrels of oil per day and the measured reserves increased from 118 million to about 203 million barrels during the first half of the current year 2023.

Tarek El Molla participated in the activities of the UN Climate Change Conference COP28 held in Dubai with several meetings, working sessions, and cooperation agreements with the Norwegian party to promote joint green energy projects between both countries.  El Molla also witnessed the signing of several agreements with Norwegian Scatec on cooperation in implementing bunkering projects in Suez Canal Economic Zone, solar energy projects, and green ammonia and green methanol production projects in the Petroleum Sector.

Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, announced the result of the 1st digital International Bid Round for Oil and Gas exploration and its exploitation at the Mediterranean, Western Desert and Gulf of Suez. Eight blocks, (of which 2 at the Mediterranean, 4 at the Western Desert and 2 at the Gulf of Suez), were awarded to Eni, BP, Apex International, Energean Egypt, INA, Enap Sipetrol and United Energy.
  • 13-1-2022 Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated in the Ministerial meeting of the Future Minerals Forum in Saudi Arabia, reviewing Egypt's vision for developing the Mining Sector at the panel discussion sessions entitled: "What are Governments Doing to Maximize Mining's Contribution to their People and Does the Challenge offer Opportunities for Regional Collaborations?"

Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, met the youth of the Petroleum Sector participating in the 4th edition of the World Youth Forum in Sharm El-Sheikh, as well as the executive leadership of the Presidential Program, graduated from the National Training Academy, who were honored by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, on the sidelines of the Forum.
  • 19-1-2022 Within the activities of the "Upper Egypt Week", President Abdel Fattah El Sisi inaugurated the new Gasoline Production Complex of Assiut Oil Refinery, which is considered one of the strategic projects implemented by the Petroleum Sector in Upper Egypt for its significant role in providing the Upper Egypt governorates with petroleum products, especially 100% of gasoline.
  • 25-1-2022 Eng. Tarek El Molla participated at Egypt – US Forum on climate change, organized by the AmCham of Commerce in Egypt and the Egypt-U.S. Business Council, with virtual participation of H.E Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister and John Kerry, US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, in the presence and participation of a number of government ministers and the US ambassador to Egypt, in addition to a number of heads of IOCs. The Forum was entitled "Building Momentum to UN COP27… Strengthening Public-Private Sector Collaboration on the Climate Challenge".
  • 27-1-2022 OAPEC's report about the LNG and hydrogen during the 4th quarter of 2021 highlighted that Egypt's gas exports contributed to increasing the growth of gas exports from Arab countries during 2021, and Egypt represents the great part of such increase, during the last quarter of 2021, after returning both LNG plants of Egypt to work at full capacity.



  • 5-2-2022 Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, inaugurated the new Cargas/Wataniya gas fueling station in El Shorouk city. The Minister also visited the three new stations for fueling vehicles with natural gas at the New Administrative Capital, currently being completed, in cooperation between Cargas, Gastec and the Wataniya Petroleum.
  • 6-2-2022 Eng. Tarek El-Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, held the first meeting at the Ministry's headquarters in the government district at the New Administrative Capital, with the fueling and service companies operating with natural gas as fuel. He reviewed achievements of the Ministry's program for relying on natural gas as a vehicle fuel, which provides a civilized and special service for citizens.
  • 13-2-2022 President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, inaugurated Egypt Petroleum Show (EGYPS 2022) Conference and Exhibition in its 5th edition, during 14 -16 February 2022, under the theme "North Africa and the Mediterranean: Delivering Energy Today ", with national and international participation of Petroleum and Energy Ministers, as well as Heads and Executive Officers of national companies, IOCs, international oil and gas organizations, in addition to the petroleum industry experts. It is considered the most significant international and regional gathering in the oil and gas industry domain in North Africa and the Mediterranean.
  • 18-2-2022 On the sidelines of the EU - Africa Summit in Brussels, Eng. Tarek El-Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, held bilateral talks with the EU Commission President.
  • 21-2-2022 Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated in a Ministerial session, within the activities of the International Petroleum Technology Conference (IPTC) 2022, hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during 21-23 February 2022. The Ministerial meeting was held under the theme " Fueling Global Recovery through Sustainable Energy", with the participation of Prince Abdulaziz Bin Salman, Minister of Energy of Saudi Arabia, Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Bahraini Minister of Oil and Gas, Dr. Mohammad Abdul Latif AlFaris, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Oil and Minister of of State for Council Affairs of Kuwait, and Ihsan Abdul Jabbar, Iraqi Minister of Oil.

  • 21-2-2022 Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and President of the GECF Ministerial Meeting, delivered Egypt's speech during the Forum's extraordinary ministerial meeting. It was held prior to the 6th Summit of Heads of State and government member countries, in the framework of the Summit's preparations. It brought together the Secretary-General of the Forum and the Ministers of Petroleum and Energy of the member countries, including Egypt, Algeria, Qatar, Libya, Russia, Iran, Venezuela, Bolivia, Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, Trinidad and Tobago as permanent members, along with UAE, Iraq, Malaysia, Peru, Azerbaijan, Norway and Angola as observer members, and Mozambique, participating as a guest in the current meeting. He also announced the recipients of the GECF first-ever awards.

It is considered the most significant annual event in the world energy industry domain, gathering international leaders in the energy and industry domains, for providing new ideas, visions and solutions for the challenges confronting the future of energy, environment and climate, as well as reviewing prospects and policies of the global energy markets and updates of the modern technologies, manufacturing, finance and services.
  • 10-3-2022 Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated in a panel discussion within the activities of CERAWeek, the World's Premier Energy Event, in Houston, USA, entitled (Focus on Egypt: Forging partnerships for the energy transition). During which, El Molla reviewed the conditions and challenges facing the global natural gas markets, pointing out Egypt's vital role of exporting LNG to European markets, as well as the current role of the EMGF in promoting regional cooperation and developing gas resources in the countries of the region, in order to secure the needs of their peoples, as well as Europe and Asia from this vital resource, which is the most significant fuel during the transition phase towards clean energy.
  • 11-3-2022 Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated in the activities of the " Africa Energy Forum ", held during CERAWeek the World's Premier Energy Event in the American city of Houston, with the participation of petroleum and energy Ministers of 11 African countries, as well as officials of the US Department of Energy and Heads of IOCs operating in the African countries, and officials of a number of international and African financial institutions. They asserted Egypt's vision for bolstering the African Continent, in achieving a balanced and realistic transition in energy domain. The Forum's participants welcomed and praised H.E President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's declaration for supporting the African continents and giving priority, at the upcoming COP27 Climate Summit in Sharm El Sheikh. They reviewed the challenges facing the African Continent in the energy transition domain and financing issues that will be presented to the African Continent, for achieving the energy transition goals.
  • 24-3-2022 El Molla, during his virtual participation in the IEA Ministerial Panel, "Post COP26 Priorities: Supporting Africa's Clean Energy Transitions", praised the importance of the Conference in supporting Africa and its vision towards energy transition.
  • 25-3-2022 Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated in the activities of the 2nd day of the International Energy Agency (IEA) meetings, headed by the CEO of the Agency, in the presence of the US Secretary of Energy for discussing the energy transition efforts, via video conference. He participated in a Ministerial panel that included energy Ministers from 44 countries, entitled "The International Energy Agency Community", organized by the agency, welcoming a number of countries to its membership, including Egypt. This comes in the framework of discussing intensifying efforts to implement the goals of the global energy transition, confirming the importance of the global role in providing financing and technologies necessary for the African Continent to obtain clean, low carbon energy, pointing out the significance of developing natural gas and renewable energy resources in the Continent, with natural resources and great potentials. 



  •  1-4 -2022 Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum & Mineral Resources, inaugurated Gastec's SCADA System for remote monitoring and control for natural gas vehicles fueling stations.
  • 18-4-2022  Eng. Tarek El-Molla, Minister of Petroleum & Mineral Resources, accompanied by Mr. Mohamed Saafan, Minister of Manpower, inaugurated the main headquarters of the General Tarde Union for Petroleum Workers (GTUPW).
  •  28-4-2022  Eng. Tarek El-Molla, Minister of Petroleum & Mineral Resources, and Major General Khaled Fouda, Governor of South Sinai, signed a cooperation protocol for converting vehicles into natural gas in Sharm El-Sheikh, in the framework of supporting the efforts of the city hosting COP 27 Summit next November. The protocol includes companies providing a grant of about L.E 5 million for bolstering the procedures of converting vehicles into natural gas.

  • 16-5-2022 Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources handed over contracts for 50 houses, established for the affected by the floods in Khor Awada village, in Aswan Governorate. This comes in the framework of the integrated vision approved by the Higher Committee for Social Responsibility in the Petroleum Sector, headed by Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.
  • 16-5-2022 Eng. Tarek El-Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated in the meeting organized by the American Chamber in Egypt with GreenTech Business Delegation visiting Cairo.

The Minister held a series of meetings with the officials of Major International Energy Agencies, Financial institutions, IOCs, Energy Ministers  and Senior Officials in the energy industry, for discussing methods of cooperation and joint coordination for COP27 Summit.

Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated in "Egypt Can with Industry" Conference, organized by Ministry of Immigration, under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, participating as a Keynote Speaker in the panel discussion, "Green Industry... The Way to COP27", reviewing decarbonization and energy transition strategies.

 


  • 1-6-2022 EMRA announced the result of the international bid round for gold and minerals in the Eastern Desert for the year 2020, in its second round, where 8 regions were assigned to 4 British, Canadian and Egyptian companies. The result of the second round of bidding represents a success in attracting new investments despite the successive global challenges as COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, with its negative repercussions on the global economy.
  • 9-6-2022 Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and his Jordanian counterpart, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, signed an MoU for bilateral cooperation in mining, oil, gas and petrochemical domains. This was during El Molla's visit to Jordan to participate in the regional Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Europe Future Energy Dialogue (MEFED) 2022, organized by the Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
  • 12-6-2022 Eng. Tarek El-Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, announced the start of the procedures and steps for establishing the petroleum region of Tibeen area ,Great Cairo, the "Modern Zone" that includes a number of projects, on top of which are the new expansions in the infrastructure of the national grid for the transporting and pumping the crude oil & petroleum products from and to Upper Egypt through the Petroleum Pipeline Company's Tibeen area.
  • 15-6-2022 Egypt hosted the 7th EMGF Ministerial Meeting. The event was inaugurated by H.E. Natasha Pilides, Cypriot Minister of Energy and president of the current cycle of the Forum, via video conference. The Forum was moderated by H.E. Eng. Tarek El Molla, Egypt's Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, the alternate president of the Forum during 2022.
  • 15-6-2022 Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Israel's Minister of Energy, and EU Commissioner for Energy, signed an MoU on cooperation in trading, transporting, and exporting natural gas between Egypt, Israel, and the EU, in the presence of President of the European Commission, under the umbrella of the EMGF.

  • 8-7-2022 The fiscal year 2021/2022 witnessed (80) new areas delivering gas for the first time this year, and the villages of the "Decent Life Initiative", In addition to saving 243 million cylinders of LPG per year, replacing it by natural gas, as well as delivering 1.3 million prepaid gas meters. In addition to 420 villages, will deliver natural gas to them as part of the "Decent Life" initiative.
  • 11-7-2022 The Petroleum and Mineral Resources Sector is currently implementing an integrated work program for improving energy efficiency in all petroleum sites and headquarters, within the framework of the 4-B program, (the energy efficiency Improvement program) within the Petroleum Sector's Modernization Program. The Sector succeeded in implementing low-cost measures for improving energy efficiency in 31 petroleum companies, results in savings of 813 EGP million annually.
  • 18-7-2022The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has received 51,875 complaints since the launch of the system, where they were responded to 99% of them, and currently working on the remaining complaints, This was mentioned in the periodic follow-up reports of the unified government complaints system of the Cabinet, confirming that the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources continuously among the top  Ministries wide acknowledging and responding to complaints through the system, achieving positive response rates.

  • 1-8-2022 The Petroleum Sector's announcement of acquiring the 50% share owned by the Japanese company Toyota. Thus the Petroleum Sector now owns the 2 offshore drilling rigs Al-Qaher 1 & Al-Qaher II, after increasing the share of EGAS to 85% and the South Valley Holding for Egyptian petroleum to 15%.
  • 4-8-2022 Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, laid the foundation stone for the expansion of Al Hamra Petroleum Port area, which is represented in an onshore area of 120 feddans, aiming at increasing the storage capacity of the port facilities by adding 4 storage reservoirs with a capacity of 630,000 barrels of crude, to reach a storage capacity of 5.3 million barrels to facilitate trading and receiving movement crude oil at Al Hamra port.

  • 10-9-2022 During his visit to Sharm El-Sheikh, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, inspected a number of vehicles that were converted to work on dual fuel (gas + gasoline) by  CARGAS Co., among 600 vehicles that were converted at the expense of EGAS, as a direct support from the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources for Sharm El Sheikh, in preparation of COP 27 Summit.
  • 17-9-2022 Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, inaugurated the Ismailia Canal Road at Mostorod Petroleum Region. The Minister also inaugurated a Flare Gas Recovery project at Cairo Oil Refining Company, laying out the foundation stone for the new expansions area, as well as inaugurating the reservoir affiliated to CO-OP Company, after completing the development work and raising its operational efficiency.

• 4/1/2021: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi inaugurated the exhibition for “The Vehicles' Clean Energy Conversion and Replacement Technologies”. El Molla reviewed the Ministry's work plan for expanding the use of natural gas, in the presence of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister and a number of government Ministers, as well as local and international companies specialized in this domain.

• 13/1/2021: Dr. Hala El Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development and Egypt’s Governor at the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Dr. Ali Al Moselhy, Minister of Supply & Internal Trade, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation and Ms. Nevine Gamea, Minister of Trade and Industry, witnessed the signing ceremony of the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation's (ITFC) 2021 financing program, (via video conference), to provide integrated financing solutions for Egypt of $ 1.1 billion.

• 21/1/2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, witnessed the signing of 5 contracts for gold exploration for Canadian and Egyptian companies, with the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority (EMRA); with total investment of about $ 13 million in 13 sectors; which is the result of the first International bid round of gold exploration for the year 2020, launched by Egypt, and its result was announced last November.

.9-2-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, received the Mining Committee delegation of the AmCham in Egypt, which was formed for the first time in the Chamber's history.

.18-2-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, announced via video conference the launch of Egypt Upstream Gateway "EUG", as the 1st digital platform for providing geological data for upstream activities in Egypt, within the framework of the attracting Investments program, of the Petroleum Sector’s Modernization project.

El Molla also announced the launch of the 1st International bid round for oil and gas exploration for the year 2021, of EGPC and EGAS, through the EUG at 24 blocks in the Gulf of Suez, the Western Desert, and the Eastern & Western Mediterranean.

.21-2-2021: A Meeting was held between Eng. Tarek El Molla and Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, in the presence of Eng. Zafer Melhem, Chairman of the Palestinian Energy and Natural Resources Authority at the Presidential headquarters in Ramallah, during El Molla’s first visit to Palestine, after his meeting with H.E President Mahmoud Abbas. Both sides signed an MoU among the partners of Gaza gas field; the Palestine Investment Fund, the Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) and EGAS, to cooperate in developing Gaza gas field and the necessary infrastructure, in order to provide Palestine's needs of natural gas, enhancing cooperation between both countries, as well as exporting part of the gas to Egypt.

.26-2-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated via video conference in the 5th IEF-EU Energy and Climate Day, organized by the International Energy Forum in cooperation with the EU, and the participation of Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud, Saudi Energy Minister, Tinne Van der Straeten, Belgium Energy Minister and Frans Timmermans, Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal, at the European Commission, as well as Joseph McMonigle, Secretary General of the International Energy Forum.


1-3-2021: The Ministry of Petroleum Officially Launches the 1st Mobile Application for Locations of Natural Gas Vehicles Fueling Stations

Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, announced that the Ministry has actually launched the 1st mobile application to find out the locations of Natural Gas vehicles Fueling Stations and the conversion centers, displaying the nearest ones where the citizen exist, as well as introducing the available services. He clarified that, this comes within the framework of the Ministry's efforts and endeavors to facilitate benefiting from the natural gas for vehicles.

4-3-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated, via video conference, in the activities of the (CERAWeek) Conference, the world's premier energy event, which was held virtually during the period from 1st to 5th March 2021 at the U.S, due to the precautionary measures of COVID-19 pandemic. El Molla delivered a speech in a panel discussion within the conference activities under the title, "The New Map: Energy, Climate and Charting the Future".

 

5-3-2021: Verocy, the Dutch website, specialized in investment consultants of the Middle East and North Africa countries, published a report on Egypt's progress in exporting LNG to the international markets, during the coming period, in light of the expected growing demand on natural gas, and Egypt's distinct infrastructure for exporting gas produced from its fields, and the East Mediterranean fields, for contributing in securing the needs of the European markets during the coming period. The report was written by the economic analyst, Cyril Widdershoven, under the title (Pharaonic gas dreams to restart? LNG exports precursor for East MED gas Sector expansion).

 

9-3-2021: The 4th Ministerial Meeting of the EMGF was held in Cairo, in the presence of the Founding Energy Ministers of Cyprus, Egypt, Greece, Israel, Jordan, Palestine and the Italian Vice Minister of Economic Development. They announced that the EMGF Statute enters into force starting March 2021. The Ministers acknowledged that this significant milestone is a result of serious steps and successive achievements realized since launching the Forum in January 2019, though the intensive cooperation among Founding Members, and the tremendous efforts exerted by their professional teams.

12-3-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated in the meeting organized by the AmCham in Egypt, entitled "Egypt's Strategy to Promote Investments in the Mining Sector".

During his speech, El Molla asserted that the Mining Sector started reaping the fruits of the Modernization program, being implemented to cope with the Mining Sector's international developments, as well as transferring Egypt into an international destination for attracting mining investment and encouraging investors.

 8-4-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, witnessed the delivery of 20 ventilators with a total cost exceeding $ 600,000 provided by Eni. That’s in the framework of the initiative of the Petroleum Sector and IOCs operating in Egypt, for bolstering the Ministry of Health’s efforts in confronting COVID-19 pandemic.

 9-4-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated in the ceremony of launching and delivering the first batch of gas-powered cars, as part of the presidential initiative to replace and convert vehicles to run with natural gas, in the presence of the Minister of Finance, Minister of Industry and Trade, and Vice President for Financial Affairs.

 10-4-2021: Operating the first a mobile CNG fueling station, one of the advanced methods of the Petroleum Sector, aiming at facilitating the services of supplying vehicles with natural gas.

 13-4-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated in a panel discussion via video conference, within the activities of the annual Forum of the United Nations Economic and Social Council, entitled "Financing for Sustainable Development", with the participation of the Minister of International Cooperation, Vice President of the International Finance Corporation for the Middle East and Africa, member of the Executive Committee of the World Economic Forum and President of Europe, Eurasia and the Middle East region.

 

 21-4-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, witnessed the signing of an MoU between Petrojet & TR Co. for Manufacturing Thermal Equipment, aiming at cooperating in designing, supplying and manufacturing equipment, included in the components of petroleum projects.



9-5-2021: The Ministry of International Cooperation held a multi stake holder platform, entitled: "Egypt as a Regional Energy Hub: Reforms and Prospects in the Petroleum and Gas Sector", attended by Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and officials of major foreign and private companies operating in Egypt.

12-5-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, witnessed the signing of a contract for gold exploration in the Eastern Desert, between the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority (EMRA) and the English Co. Nubian Mining, with total investments of $ 5.2 million for one block.

14-5-2021: For the first time, the Petroleum Sector started the actual operation of the first mobile natural gas fueling station in Egypt and East Mediterranean region for fueling cars and vehicles with CNG. It started providing its services in populated areas, it is characterized by its readiness to fuel 500 vehicles every 12 hours, up to 1000 per day, with refill.

20-5-2021: The Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries "OAPEC" clarified in a report, entitled "The Development of LNG and Hydrogen" during Q1 of 2021, that Egypt was on top of  the Arab countries' exports during Q1 of 2021, that exported about 2 million tons, compared to 0.4 million tons during the same quarter of 2020,  about 400% annual growth rate, which is the optimum growth achieved by Egypt.

27-5-2021: Signing a contract appendix for supplying natural gas, as well as operating natural gas grid expansions in Jordon, operated by the Jordanian Egyptian FAJR Company.

Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, visited the Suez Canal Economic Zone in Ain Sokhna, to lay the foundation stone for the first petrochemical complex in the economic zone, with investments of about $7.5 billion, providing 15,000 job opportunities.

8-6-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, delivered a speech at the virtual webinar, held by the British Egyptian Business Association (BEBA), via video conference, entitled  "Oil and Gas Sector's Achievements", in the presence of Khaled Nosseir, Chairman of BEBA.

9-6-2021: Eng.Tarek El Molla participated, as a keynote speaker, in the first Forum's activities, "1st Unlocking Industries – Hydrogen in Africa", via video conference, participated by Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Egyptian Ambassador to Berlin, and organized by Afrika-Verein Association, in the framework of the German-African Energy Days 2021.

13-6-2021: In the framework of implementing and applying digital transformation in all domains, which the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources is adopting; Petrotrade has started to modernize the technology system concerning the whole company's services, and started planning a new vision in digital transformation, including establishing and updating the electronic applications, and launching Petrometer application.

29-6-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated in a meeting organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt entitled, "The Oil and Gas Sector's Transformation Fueling the Egyptian Economy", in the presence of Jonathan Cohen, the US Ambassador to Egypt, as well as a number of leaders in the Petroleum Sector and Heads of national and foreign petroleum companies. The Minister announced that upon the request of a large number of IOCs, the deadline for closing the first international bid round for oil and gas exploration & exploitation for the year 2021, in 24 blocks, was extended until the end of September 2021.


6-7-2021:  Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, headed the 5th  EMGF’s Ministerial Meeting, hosted by Egypt, via video conference, in the presence of the member countries’ Minsters and the Acting US Assistant Secretary for Energy. They all agreed by consensus on joining the EU and the International Bank to the Forum as observers.

8-7-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, in the presence of Mr. Alessandro Politi, Chief Operating Officer Natural Resources of Eni, witnessed the signing of an MoU between the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company and the Italian company, Eni, to cooperate in green and blue hydrogen production domain and evaluating the technical and commercial feasibilities of its production projects targeted in Egypt.

9-7-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources witnessed the signing of two agreements between the Petroleum Sector and the American Bechtel Group, for implementing the main design and constructions works of the Red Sea Petrochemical Complex Project, as well as  forming a consortium for implementing the project in Ain Sokhna economic zone, which is considered the largest petrochemical project in Egypt and Africa, with investments of about $7.5 billion.

26-7-2021:  Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, honored Petrojet, the executive arm of the Petroleum Sector, for obtaining Guinness World Records certificate for implementing the largest floating roof tank in Ras Badran, with a capacity of 175,000 m3, equivalent to about 1.1 mb of crude oil.


8-9-2021: In the presence of Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan hosted the Ministerial Meeting of the Arab Gas Pipeline countries (AGP) (Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon). During the meeting, they agreed on delivering the Egyptian natural gas to the Lebanese Republic through Jordan and Syria, as well as presenting a scheduled agenda for its implementation.

22-9-2021: The International Energy Forum (IEF) and the International Gas Union (IGU), decided to choose Egypt for hosting the 8th Ministerial Gas Forum in 2022.

28-9-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated in the Ministerial session entitled "Repositioning the industry post pandemic and looking ahead". The session was held at opening session of OMC Med Energy Conference and Exhibition in Ravenna, Italy, under the theme, "Rethinking Energy Together: Alliances For a Sustainable Energy Future".


10-10-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla. 18-10-2021: The 9th tripartite summit between Egypt, Cyprus and Greece, held in the Greek capital, Athens, between leaders of the three countries. Announcements of President El-Sisi about moving forward in the steps of establishing an offshore pipeline for transferring the Cypriot gas to the liquefaction plants of Damietta and Idku, in preparation of supplying LNG to Greece, then to east Mediterranean countries and Central Europe, in light of the EMGF goals.


4-11-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated in the World Climate Summit/ COP 26, at Glasgow, upon an invitation by U.S. Secretary of Energy, Jennifer Granholm, whereas he  represented Egypt, in launching the Net Zero World Initiative by the United States of America.

Tarek El-Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, participated in the opening ceremony of Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC) 2021", held in the UAE capital, during 15-18 November 2021, under the theme " Unlocking New Value Opportunities in the Energy System ", with participation of more than 160 Petroleum and Energy Ministers, IOC's CEOs, as well as a number of distinctive experts worldwide.

15-11-2021: Eng. Tarek El-Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, visiting the Egyptian pavilion at ADIPEC exhibition in Abu Dhabi. 25-11-2021: The Sixth Ministerial Meeting of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) was convened in Cairo - The Arab Republic of Egypt-  under the Presidency of His Excellency Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of the Arab Republic of Egypt, as the current President of the EMGF Ministerial Meeting.

The Meeting was attended by the Cypriot, Egyptian, Greek, Israeli, Jordanian and Palestinian Ministers of Energy, as well as the French Director General for Global Affairs, Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and the Italian Directorate General for Infrastructure and security of Energy at the Ministry of Ecological Transition as heads of delegations of the EMGF Member Countries. 24-12-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Eng. Abed Ezz El Regal, CEO of the EGPC, and Alessandro Puliti, Chief Operating Officer Natural Resources of Eni, signed an agreement between the EGPC and Eni on oil exploration, development and exploitation in the Gulf of Suez areas and Nile Delta, issued under Law No. 185 of 2021. The agreement includes Eni's commitment to spend minimum investments of $1 billion, in addition to its commitment to spend additional $20 million at least for drilling 4 wells.

27-12-2021: Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Eng. Abed Ezz El Regal, CEO of EGPC, and Mr. David Chi, Vice President of the American Apache and General Manager of the company in Egypt, signed an agreement; under which Apache is committed to spend a minimum of $3.5 billion on upstream and production operations in the concession areas at the Western Desert. The agreement comes within the framework of the joint modernization efforts between both sides, through merging the concession areas of Khalda and Qarun Petroleum Companies, operating on behalf of EGPC and Apache.

Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, announced the results of the 1st Bid Round for Gold Exploration, launched last March, which attracted 23 companies that bought available data packs, with an unprecedented investment interest, despite the challenges of COVID-19, as 17 companies proposed; 11 of which won 82 blocks in the Eastern Desert, i.e 28% of offered blocks, with minimum investment commitment of about $ 60 million in the first stages of exploration.  7 International companies won these blocks; the Australian Centamin Co., the Canadian companies; Barrick Gold Corporation, Lotus Gold Corporation, B2Gold, Red Sea Resources, in addition to two British companies; AKH gold and Nubian Mines and 4 Egyptian companies including; MEDAF, Al-Abadi Mining Co. North Africa Mining and Petroleum Co. (NAMC) and EBDAA for Gold Mining.

The Minister also announced the launch of a second round, including the rest blocks of the 1st bid round; 208 blocks on an area of 38 thousand km in the Eastern Desert for mineral ores explorations.

Moreover, the Conference witnessed El Molla's announcement of a new International bid round for some ores and associated minerals exploration from 19/11/2020 until mid-March 2021, including iron, potash phosphates, copper, white sands, feldspar, lead / zinc, kaolin and Lake Nasser deposits in various blocks over an area covering  16 km².

  • 16/12/2020 The high-level working group of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) held its 8th meeting via video conference, to discuss a number of organizational matters for activating the Forum's activities i.e., reviewing the headquarters agreement status between Egypt and the Forum, according to its establishment agreement. They also discussed the procedures of joining new members and observers to the Forum, in light of the interest of many countries to join, believing in the significance of the Forum, as it is the first intergovernmental organization for cooperation in gas domain in the East Mediterranean region.
  • 17/12/2020 Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Jonathan R. Cohen, U.S Ambassador to Egypt, witnessed, via video conference,  the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) awarding grants, with an amount of $ 1.4 million, to (Amreya Petroleum Refining Company (APRC) and Suez Oil Processing Company (SOPC) to provide financial and technical support of feasibility studies to modernize both companies' refineries.

The expansions aim to produce 500 thousand tons of Propylene and 450,000 tons of polypropylene.

13/10/2018: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and Governor of Cairo inspected the works of the national project for natural gas delivery to residents in Helwan Gardens and visit to El Tebeen area owned by the Petroleum Pipeline Company, which is the link between North Egypt, Cairo, Suez and Upper Egypt.

15/10/2018: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, met with the CEO of BP Co. for exploration and production, Regional President of BP North Africa, and the accompanying delegation to review the operational status of the second phase of the development project in the fields of Northern Alexandria and the Western Mediterranean to produce gas from the Mediterranean Sea deep water.

16/10/2018: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources signed a memorandum of understanding for the financing of the production of methanol derivatives project of about $ 35-40 million between Suez Company for Methanol Derivatives and the Arab Petroleum Investment Company (APICORP) during the coming period.

17/10/2018: The Minister of Petroleum held talks with a delegation from Kuwait Energy Company including the Chairman of the Board, the Chief Executive Officer and the Chairman of Kuwait Energy Company of Egypt and a delegation from United Energy Group of China headed by the Group Chief Executive officer where they reviewed the Chinese group's activities in the domain of exploration and production in Asia.

On 29th August 2017: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources' signing of three new agreements for oil and natural gas exploration in the Western Desert, between (EGPC) and both international oil companies Shell and the American company Apex that is operating and investing in Egypt for the first time.




 September 2017

On 9th September 2017: Signing a contract of the implementation of the integrated subsea services for the second phase of Zohr natural gas field development project in the Mediterranean between Petrobel, operator of the field and Baker Hughes.

On 10th September 2017: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources' welcoming of Aramco's Chief Executive Officer for petroleum products trading, one of the main subsidiaries of international Aramco. He took a tour in Egypt to closely identify the projects implemented by the sector infrastructure development domain such as pipelines, warehouses, ports and refineries as the significance axis in Egypt's transformation project into a regional hub for energy exchanging and trading.

On 30th September 2017: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources' visit to the storage and trading facilities of petroleum products in Badr, besides inspecting the workflow of the Arabian Oil Pipelines company's (Altube) warehouse in Badr city.

 October 2017

On 4th October 2017: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources' Participation in the 19th Ministerial Meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in Moscow, under the chairmanship of the Russian Minister of Energy, with the participation of Energy and Petroleum Ministers of Major gas producing and exporting countries, members of the forum. In addition, to Ministers of 7 countries, participating as the forum observers and the Forum's Secretary General.

On 6th October 2017: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources' participation in the presidential session, one of the 'Russian Energy Week' events, in which the Russian president participated as the keynote speaker, with the attendance of many energy and petroleum ministers, CEOs of global energy organizations and a huge number of global companies operating in the energy domain.  The council approved the selection of Eng. Tarek El Molla Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources as an alternate president for the forum from 1st of January 2018 till 31st December 2018.

On 9th October 2017: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources signing an agreement with the Italian Eni and Russia's Rosneft Upstream subsidiary company and EGAS, by which the Russian company is a partner in East Bahariya concession area where Zohr field is located in Mediterranean.  Buying 30% stake in Egypt's Zohr natural gas field from Eni in the concession area.

On 10th October 2017: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources witnessed the signing of two memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Egyptian and Jordanian natural gas companies. 

On 15th October 2017: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources' visit to Zohr field development project in the Mediterranean, and a meeting to follow up the implementation of both Midor Refinery expansion project and Asyut refinery development project.


November 2017

• 9/11/2017: Signing a cooperation protocol between the Co-operation Company for Petroleum and the Agricultural Engineering Unit at the Ministry of Agriculture to assign the management of the unit's stations to the Co-operation Company for the provision of fuel supply services (7 stations as a first phase).
• 13/11/2017: The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources participation in the activities of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Conference and Exhibition (ADIPEC 2017).
• 18/11/2017: The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources visit to the location of Zohr field at Port Said to follow up the progress of work and to see the latest developments in the implementation of the final works of the project, as part of the celebration of the 42nd Petroleum National Day.
• 20-24 / 11/2017: The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources heads Egypt's delegation to the Ministerial Conference of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum in Bolivia, with the presence of the Petroleum and Energy Ministers of the 12 member countries to discuss the international gas markets developments the Minister delivered the speech of Egypt on behalf of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi at the 4th Gas Summit of the member states.
• 30/11/2017: The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources delivered the speech of Egypt at the ordinary ministerial meeting of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in the Austrian capital of Vienna, in which Egypt participated as an observer.

December 2017

• 2/12/2017: Participation of the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources in the activities of the Mediterranean Dialogue Conference held in Rome for the 3rd consecutive year as an initiative of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
• 3/12/2017: The Minister of Petroleum's visit to Brussels to meet with the European Commissioner and discuss ways of cooperation and partnership with the European Union in the field of oil and gas.
• 9/12/2017: The presence of the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and Chairman of the Ministerial Council of the current session of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) attended the celebration of the golden jubilee of the Organization.
• 10/12/2017: The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources heads the 9th Ministerial Conference of the Council of Ministers of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC).
• 12/12/2017: Experimental start-up of the latest warehouse for petroleum products storage, trade and shipment of Misr Petroleum Company, which was established on an area of 120 thousand m2 in Badr city.
• 16/12 2017: Pumping natural gas from the offshore wells of Zohr field to the new onshore station in El Gameel area at Port Said to be treated and pumped into the National Gas Grid, at an initial production rate of 350 million cubic feet of gas per day.
• 18/12/2017: An agreement was signed between the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), the Egyptian Drilling Company (EDC) and the Danish Company (Maersk), under which EGPC will acquire Maersk's 50% stake in the Egyptian Drilling Company.

• In May, the gas project over the gulf in Ra's Bakr affiliated to Gabco Company has been opened. 
• In June, the newest plant for the mixture and packaging of the mineral gases for "ASO" Company in the Tenth of Ramadan City. 
• Also, in June, the seminar of computers was held in 2000 and organized by Brtish Gas Company in cooperation with the BB Omoco Company, Shell and the Petroleum Authority to make the procedures ensure the dealing with all the systems inapplicable to the year 2000. 
• October day has been celebrated simultaneously with the eighteen years passed after the taking over President Mubarak to continue the march of progress and achieve the dream for which he has went for long. 
• The twenty fourth petrol day celebration has witnessed the new manner assigned by the Ministry Of Petroleum when it honored the families of martyrs who have been working in the field of petrol in the last year including the six petrol martyrs who were the victims of the destroyed pan. 
• In December, the sixty third conference of "OPEC" was held under the presidency of Eng. Sameh Fahmy, the Minister of Petroleum. Moreover, a conference was held to develop the usages natural gas in the electricity stations, industry and housing in Cairo under the presidency of Eng. Sameh Fahmy and organized by the Energy Organization of the Mediterranean countries in cooperation with Egypt Electricity Authority and the Petroleum Authority. 
Certainly, this account is rich with events as it is previewed briefly narrating the success story which was achieved by the Sector of Petrol for the time exceeding a century.

1998

• In March, the agreement to establish Al Sharqion Petrochemical Company; the first petrochemical compound of the private sector (by and between Egypt, America and Japan).

• Also, the seminar "the challenge of 2000" was held and organized by the Petroleum Authority understanding the possible disorders in computers and Information Systems from 2000 and their influence on the petrol industry in March.

• In April, the first Egyptian - Chinese agreement was executed in the field of oil wells prospect. 

• In May, under the logo of "Energy and Arab Cooperation", the Sixth Arab Energy Conference was held in Syria and joint by Egypt. 

• In July, the first project for the pipe line to transport the LPG Gas Gas over the gulf from Balae'm fields in South Sinai to the main storage warehouses in Ra's Bakr Area, East Suez gulf then to the distributing centers in Quatamia. 

• In October, the fourteenth Petrol Conference was held under the logo of "The New Areas Of Deep Waters And South Egypt" where the three partnership agreements were entered with the global companies to prospect oil and natural gas as well as their production in the land and deep water areas out the Egyptian borders; the Italian Gibb and Edison Company and the Resipol Spanish Company. 

• Also, the protocol for the energy sufficiency board was signed by and between al the competent authorities in the Country including the Petroleum Authority in October.

• In the same month, the agreement for natural gas sale from Al Temsah fields on the Mediterranean Sea with Al Dawlia Oil Company and Omoko Amrican Company to market the produced gas in this area in order to save the requirements of all the stations of electricity Power Generation. This act is deemed as the certainty of the Foreigner partners' trust of the future of natural gas in Egypt. 

• In November, the twenty third petrol day was the same time of the precedence of 25 year over the glorious October victories.

• In January, giving the start sign to start the works of Nile water entry in Al Wady Al Jadeed channel in Toshka for the greatest civil projects entered by Egypt in the 21st Century. 

• In February, he has given the start sign to begin the production of "Meliha" deep field for Ageiba Company and "Kenz" Field affiliated to Khaleda Petroleum Company was discovered.

• In the same month, the execution of "Al Abiad" field was started as the first discovery of natural gas in the Northern Western Desert and "Al Faras" field affiliated to Ageiba Company which is deemed as the first filed for petrol production in Munkhafad Al Katatrah. 

• Also, the first signature was performed by and between Egypt and Saudi Arabia in Al Zaheran City for the filed of oil prospect on the Saudi Lands in November. 

• In the same month, the protocol of the common cooperation by Egypt and Yemen was signed in the field of the oil agreements, search, exploration, training and execution of the common oil projects. 

• Moreover, the bedrock of the diesel hydro cracking project was set for Egypt Petroleum Industry within the scope of the concern for joining the private sector the activity of petrol works. 

• In the same year, the common cooperative agreement was entered by and between Egypt and Libya in the petrol and Petrochemicals field. 

• For the first time in Egypt and the Middle East, the Ministry of Petroleum has started the operation of the air conditions by the natural gas. 

• In June, "Burg AL Arab" field was opened in the Western Desert and it is the first oil field for the private sector in Egypt. 


• In July, there has been agreement by and between Egypt and Libya to extend the lines of oil production between Tabraque in Libya and Seidy Krier in Alexandria. 

• In August, the second phase of the project of increasing the storing capacity of Somidy Line in Seidy Kreir to reach the capacity of 3.7 million billion m3. 

• In September, the first container was partially dumped in Al Ain Al Soukhna under the scope of cooperation in Somid and Suez Canal. 

• In October, Bani Sueif oil field was opened; the first oil producing field in this area.

• Also, the agreement of Petroleum Authority and Ieny Italian Organization was entered to extend the lines to transport the natural gas form the sea fields in the Mediterranean Sea to South Sinai through the tunnel under Suez Canal in October while execution was started in 1998.

• In the same month, the agreement was entered in Abu Dries by and between the Petroleum Authority and Eok Company for the new gas line and the assignment of "Petrobul" Company for the developments and operation. Eok is the first Company to continue the drill woks in the deep water in the Mediterranean Sea after several years of the absence of such activity. This work is the true step forwards the development of natural gas in Egypt in the Mediterranean Sea.

• In December, the start sign was given for the operation and development of "Wady Al Sahl" field, in the west of Hurghada. 

• The end of this year has witnessed the establishment of several companies of the Egyptian private sector including City Gas Co. and Seidy Kreir Petrochemical Co.

1996

• In February, the first Center to supply and transfer the vehicles with the natural gas by "Car Gas" company. Egypt is the first country in the Middle East to use the natural gas for the vehicles.

• In May, the meeting of "OPEC" trust was held in Cairo by the environment experts in the member countries to coordinate the issued among their delegations joining the second conference held by the parties of the Frame agreement entered by the United Nations for the climatic changes and it was held in Geneva in July 1996.

• In June, Egypt has joint the meetings of the environment experts conference for the Mediterranean Sea and the European Union countries in the Italian City; Treista to search the ways of cooperation support and the development of European Investments with the countries of the Mediterranean Sea in the field of Petroleum and energy. 

• In July, President Mubarak has opened the sea field of Port Fouad for the natural gas in Port Said. This filed is the first production in the area. 

• In the same year, the Egyptian Petroleum Museum was established to collect the Egyptian Petroleum heritage. 

• In October the "Petroleum" thirteenth conference was held in Cairo under the logo of "Petrol and Environmental Protection" and it was the first unified conference for the petrol activity and it included all the petrol activities. Since such date, the conference is being held each two years. 

• In November Cairo "Economic Conference in the Middle East and North Africa" was held to understand the importance of the Arab Regional cooperation facing the global economy. 

• Also, the fist phase of the project of increasing the storing capacity in Somid Line in Seidy Krier to be 3.2 million m3 in November.

• In December, the operation was started for the newest compound to mix the mineral oils in the Middle East and Africa in Al Amria.

• In the same month, Egypt has participated in the fifth Global Conference for Energy in Goa City, in India which tackled the issues of investment and technology requirements and the alternative resources of energy.

1995

• The agreement over the greatest project for the private sector in Egypt; the Middle East Refinery " Midoor" to pass the most current international progressed technology to the Egyptian oil refinery industry. 

• In June, the first conference for the Strategy for Refinery Industry was held to 2010 in Suez to plan the future and go through with the global variables over the petroleum products.

• The project of the gas field "WCAR" was started in the Mediterranean Sea, North Port Said by Petrobul Co.

• In June, President Hosny Mubarak has visited the newest petrol- discovery in the Western Desert and he gave the start- sign to develop Qaroun Field to be opened in June 1997. 

• In August, the operation of the third phase of Somid Line was started with the capacity of 117 million tons/ year.


1994

In 1994 

• At the beginning of the year, the first agreement was entered to encourage the investments of the private sector to prospect petroleum and gas in Egypt.

• To ascertain the role and leadership of Egypt in the field of exploration, the third conference for exploration and development in the Middle East and Africa was held in Egypt for the first time in March

• In the same year, the through- Gulf gas project was set to utilize and transport the gas by the production facilities in Balae'm, Sinai and North October filed in Suez Gulf. Moreover, the project to produce the ethylene and polyethylene in the Egyptian Petrochemical Assembly and the bedrock of the diesel Hydro cracking project in Al Nasr petroleum Company in Suez. 

• In May, the Arab Energy Conference was held under the presidency of Egypt under the logo of "Energy and Arab Cooperation".

• In August, the first station to supply the Vehicles with natural gas in Egypt and the Middle East, In Abassya by Petrobul Company.

1993

• In January, the newest environments protection centre was opened in Hurghada, Read Sea. 

• Egypt has participated in the ministerial conference (EPIC – OPIC) in April 1993 in Muscat, Oman in the same time when the conditions affected the global markets for petroleum under the remarkable price - drop and after the consequent and important international variables. 

• In the same year, the article of Gas was amended to be priced upon the comparison based on the crude petroleum instead of the average sulfur diesel.

1992

• In January, the agreement to extend the term of Somid Co. for the additional 27 years was entered. 

• The new policy was executed to encourage the International Companies for oil prospect and production under the deep water and the remote areas. 

• In March, the joint cooperation agreement was entered by and between the Ministry of Tourism and The Ministry of petroleum to define the conditions for the Red Sea Coast Lands in the area located between Suez and the Sudanese borders for the tourists and petroleum activities. 

• This year has also witnessed the private sector entry in the search and prospect fields and opening the new horizons with a lot of the concerning countries. 

• In December, the branch of Petromin Misr Company (Petrolub) was opened in Egypt to cover the requirements of the Egyptian and African Markets for the lubricants.

1991

• The independent petroleum exporting countries "IPEC'' have met in Egypt after its invitation with the aim of studying the conditions of the International petroleum Markets.​

1989

In 1989

• Egypt has joint the African Petroleum Producers Association with the purpose of supporting the cooperation process among the African Petroleum Producing countries in all the Petroleum fields (the association was set in 1987) thereafter, Egypt has joint its ministerial and expert meetings.

• This year has achieved the standard figures in the filed of petroleum agreements entered by the foreign companies to prospect petroleum and natural gas so that, hence the enjoyable stable political and petroleum sides in Egypt were ascertained during such time. Agreements have reached the number of 35.

• In November, Egypt has participated in the OPEC conference held in Abu Dhabi after rejoining the organization in 1989 and assigning it to the next session presidency appreciating the role played by it on the Arab stage and its capacity to forcibly push the petroleum work forward. 

• The fifteenth Group was formed from the third world leading countries including Egypt to adopt the new concept of cooperation among the south countries in 1990. 

• The three dimensional seismic survey was adopted in the Western Dessert for the first time by Badr Aldin Company. 

• Gas was operated and pumped for the first time through the new line Badr Aldin/ Al Amria which is affiliated to Petrojet Company and the biggest natural gas plant was operated in the Western Dessert. 

• In December, the forty fifth ministerial meeting was held by OPEC organization in Cairo under the presidency of Egypt. Since this date to the Iraqi - Kuwaiti invasion, in August 1990, the OPEC ministerial conferences were held in Egypt.


1988

In 1988 

• The first Natural Gas Association was set in Egypt. 

• In November, the ninth research and exploration petroleum conference was held for the first time and the activities of exploration and research were added in one conference with the following fair which continued for two years.

1987

In 1987​

• The coke coal was exported for the first time from Suez and the petroleum was pumped in the regular amounts from Al Salam Field in the Western Desert. 

• In June, the biggest and newest line for natural gas discovery was opened in the Western Desert and it was achieved by "Kashf Tarek" eternal Company. 

• In the same year, the new article of natural gas was added to ensure the investor his full right to recover the expenses he paid and his share of the interests in the gas agreements including the petroleum agreements. 

• In September, the first surface geological map was set to cover all Egypt. 

• Also, President Mubarak has visited the petroleum production sites in the Western Desert in September and he opened the number of the petroleum projects for oil and natural gas production and the line pipes. 

• In October his presidency has performed his second visit to the production site in the Eastern Desert in Red Sea Governorate to inspect the new projects. 

• In December, the Petroleum Authority has started the development of Gisium Crude Oil Filed for its own interest after Konoco Copmany has withdrawn and it took two years.

1977

• In 1976, the law 20 was issued to establish the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation to replace the Egyptian General Petroleum Authority. 

• In January 1977, the first petroleum container was charged to Somid Line from Seedy Kreir. 

• In 1978, Petrobul Company was built as the joint Egyptian - Italian Company and it was turned into the production common production as well as it was assigned to operate Abu Mady oil Fields processes. 

• In October 1978, the operation second phase of Somid Line has been started by the capacity of 80 Million tons/ year. 

• In April 1979, the Egyptian membership in "OPEC" was frozen for the execution of Camp David Accords. 



During the era of President/ Mohamed Hosny Mubarak




• In October 1983, President Mohamed Hosny Mubarak has opened the Gas Attendant Plant in Shkeir; the first phase of "the project of Suez Gulf Gas Collection" while the second phase was opened in 1987.

• In 1984, the execution of the first phase of LPG Gas extraction was started to use the attendant gas produced from Balae'm. 

• In November 1986, the Egyptian Petroleum Sector has celebrated the centenary day of petroleum and passing of one hundred years on the petroleum exploration for the first time in Gamasah. Also, the Eighth conference of petroleum research and exploration was held with the first petroleum activities fair.​

1968

​President Jamal Abdul Nasser reviews the activities of petrol (1968) with Eng. Aziz Sedky the Minister of Industry, Petroleum and Mineral Resources and Eng. Ahmed Kamel Al Badry the chairman of the Petroleum Association.


• In 1965, "Gabco" company was established as the Egyptian American Corporation which prospect the crude oil and the favor returned to it at the first discovery of the natural gases ( Abulghradeek Filed in 1975). Moreover, it has discovered in 1965 the biggest and oldest oil field (Al Morgan) which started its production in 1967.

• Despite the events took place in 1967 and affected the oil industry negatively, Cairo Oil Refinery was operated in 1969 while Al Amria Oil Refinery was operated in 1972, then Tanta Oil Refinery in 1973 to achieve the policy of the oil refineries geographical spread not to be focused in Suez area.



During the Era of President/ Mohamed Anwar El Sadat




• The series of the exploration seminars has started in February 1969 but in 1971, the series of the production seminars has begun, thereafter they were held alternately and regularly each two years. 

• Egypt has joint the Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries "OPEC" in March 1972. 

• In March 1973, the first Ministry of Petroleum in Egypt was formed to bear the entire responsibility of such vital industry and administer the political, strategic and economic roles to prepare for October War in 1973.

• In 6th October 1973 the brilliant victory over Israel was done affecting the oil industry on the positive track on the global, Arab (the first price revolution) and Egyptian level and leading to: 

- Recovering the petrol fields in Sinai on 17 November 1975, hence this date is deemed as the day of petrol each year.

- Broadening the oil prospect operations in Egypt. 

- Initiating the International petroleum companies to work in Egypt.

- Re-operating Suez oil refineries. 

• In January 1974K the Arab Petroleum Pipeline Company was established "Somid" as the pattern of the Arab Co- Investment but in April of the same year the execution of the first phase has started with the capacity of 40 Million tons / year and in December 1976 the first container was dumped in AAin Al Soukhna.​

1960

President Jamal Abdul Nasser, (Anreck Mateeh) the president of Ieny Italian Organization and Eng. Aziz Sedky the Minister of Industry, Petroleum and Mineral Resources - Cairo in 1960.


• In the same year, the agreement entered by Egypt and the Soviet Union aiming at cooperation in the field of oil.

• In December 1959, the law no.: 2344 was issued to reduce the competences of the Petroleum Affairs General Organization by it so that it was entitled only to contribute the stipulations of the petroleum standards. 

• In the same year, the first Petroleum Arab Conference was held in Cairo when Egypt had the great and effective role.

• In 1961, the first sea oil field in Egypt and the Middle East was discovered "North Balae'm".

• In the same year, the law no.: 118 was issued to stipulate the share of the general sector by the capital amounting to 91 companies including the English - Egyptian Oils Wells Co. and the independent Egyptian Oil Co. while the name of the Egyptian Oils Wells Co. was changed into Al Nasr Oils Wells. It was totally nationalized in 1964 and its property has been transferred to the Petroleum Affairs General Organization.

• The year 1964 has witnessed the execution of the two partnership agreements entered with the two international companies; American Co. (Recently Amoco) and Philips Petroleum Co. to broaden the spaces and areas of oil prospect.

• Within the qualitative division of the activity of general sector, the Egyptian Petroleum Affairs General Organization has been replaced by General Petroleum Organization in December 1964.​
