Mubarak Petrochemicals and Gas Complex in Damietta 
 

 The Spanish Egyptian Gas Company (SEGAS)

 

It is the first project for exporting Egyptian LNG; it was inaugurated on 30th May 2005.It has a capacity of 7.65 bcm/year of natural gas and it is one of the world's largest capacity single- train facility in operation. The site of the project can accommodate three additional trains.

 

Till December 2009,287 cargos were exported to the Spanish and United States markets by Union Fenosa Co and the Egyptian Gas Holding Company through the contracts between  EGAS and  British Petroleum, British Gas and PETRONAS.

 

The Spanish Egyptian Gas Company is 10%owned by the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation, 10% by the Egyptian Gas Holding Company, 40% by the Italian Eni and 40% by the Spanish Union Fenosa.

  

The investment cost of the project is about 1300 million dollars. The complex came on-stream and the first cargo was loaded in January 2005.
