The Ministry of Petroleum official spokesman controverts the press statement attributed to the Minister of Petroleum that H.E. can't talk about the contract of exporting Natural Gas to Israel 
 

Eng. Shamel Hamdy the official spokesman of the Ministry of Petroleum stated that the press statements published in one of the private newspapers attributed to the Minister saying that H.E. cant talk about the contract of exporting Natural Gas to Israel is not true and that this statement was not mentioned by the Minister during the Energy & Industry Committee meeting in El Shoura Council, where H.E. asked the members to listen to the explanation regarding Natural Gas and the future development in Egypt and the complete facts about exporting the Egyptian Natural Gas and afterwards the Minister said he would be ready to answer all the questions of the members and if the time of the meeting was not sufficient to answer all the questions, the minister offered to receive the rest of the questions written so that H.E. would be able to answer them just after the meeting.

And regarding the domestic market reaching saturation from natural gas, the official spokesman said that this issue was mentioned during the demonstration given by First Under Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum explaining the different changes which occurred during the year 2000, where most of the power stations were transformed to operate using Natural Gas, in addition to the expansion in using natural gas in the different sectors of the domestic market. 

The spokesman added that after the clarifications and the full details given to the members during the meeting, the Energy & Industry Committee headed by Mr. Mohamed Khamis thanked the Minister and praised the efforts of H.E. and his assistants and all the workforce of the petroleum sector.
