Eng. Tarek El Molla Reviews Energy Sector’s Reforms with the World Bank Officials.

On 28thJune 2018, Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources visited the headquarters of the World Bank, in the framework of his visit to Washington D.C, to participate in the World Gas Conference (WGC 2018).
The Minister held a meeting, that was attended by Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, Senior Vice President for the 2030 Development Agenda, United Nations Relations, and Partnerships and a number of officials of the Bank responsible for energy affairs, for the Middle East and Africa regions.

 

 

 

 


El Molla reviewed Egypt's vision to transform into a regional hub for energy trading, the possibilities to reach this objective, as well as the clear integrated steps, that Egypt implemented to achieve this goal. He also discussed the current vision for the modernization of the Petroleum Sector through the ambitious project currently being implemented, which includes 7 working programs aiming at raising the performance efficiency in various petroleum industry activities.
The World Bank officials praised the Egyptian experience of the Energy Sector reform, which represents a great success story, recalling the prestigious status of the Egyptian Energy Sector regionally and globally, and it is considered a role model for other countries or other sectors in Egypt.
During his visit, El Molla met with Dr. Hafez Ghanem, Vice President of the World Bank for Africa and Mr. Riccardo Puliti, Head of Energy and Extractives at the World Bank. Both parties discussed priorities of the joint work during the coming period between the Petroleum Sector and the World Bank.
