On 13thJanuary 2019, Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources held talks with Eng. Hala Zawati, Jordanian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources during her current visit to Egypt.
They discussed the executive situation of the joint projects and the strategies that has been set, in order to ensure provision and diversification of energy sources, especially, natural gas between both countries, as well as the methods of benefiting from the Egyptian companies’ expertise and capabilities, to develop the infrastructure for using natural gas in Jordanian cities.
During the talks, they signed several amendments for the existing agreements and MOUs between the natural gas companies in Egypt and Jordan. That’s to regulate operations of buying and selling natural gas between both countries, in the field of pipelines and natural gas transportation networks, in addition to the participation of the Egyptian Petroleum Sector’s companies in implementing gas delivery projects inside Jordan.
Moreover, El Molla affirmed the significance of joint cooperation, in light of the distinctive relations between both countries. He pointed out that the Petroleum Sector always endeavors to increase investments and open new horizons abroad for its companies. As the participation of the Egyptian gas companies in the Jordanian market, is considered a strong addition and represents a significant gate for expanding its activities.
For her part, the Jordanian Minister of Energy asserted that there are many joint cooperation domains between both countries, that could contribute to achieve positive results that benefits both parties. The upcoming period will witness more support for pushing the joint projects, which are considered a base for bolstering the economic relations especially that the Energy is the core of development.
It is worth mentioning that, signing the agreements comes at the same time with the Summit talks between HE President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the Jordanian King Abdullah Bin Al-Hussein, which contributes to bolstering the joint relations between both countries in different domains.
