On 22/2/2012, Eng. Abdullah Ghorab, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources discussed with Mr. Mark Carne, Shell’s Executive Vice President for Middle East and North Africa, and Mr. Jeroen Regtien, Shell chairman in Egypt, the company’s investment programs and plan in all oil and gas industry domains.
The Minister highlighted the deep economic relations between Shell and the Egyptian Petroleum Sector , as it has been working in Egypt for more than a century ,in which it achieved many successes in different activities as upstream and downstream of oil and gas ,along with marketing the petroleum products.
Mr. Mark Carne asserted the company's continuity in executing its programs and plans as well as increasing oil and gas exploration, development, and production in the company's concession areas , along with applying international state- of – the - art technologies to maximize reserves, production rates and improving recovery rates from the existing oil fields.
He also clarified that the Western Desert concession area , where the company operates for three decades through the joint venture Badr el Din Petroleum ,which achieved many discoveries ,is still considered an promising attractive investment area in light of the oil potentials which predicts that this area will become one of the main oil and gas production areas in Egypt.
